Which post-scrimmage Karl Dorrell quote to you was the most telling?
  • "We didn't want to show too much given it was a public scrimmage. But we did what we wanted to do today in terms of seeing our base-level schemes". In other words: nothing to see here (46%, 56 Votes)
  • "B-Lew looked good. He looked like he was in control of what was going on. I thought he made good decisions today". With Shrout limited, the starting quarterback job is truly Lewis' to lose (30%, 36 Votes)
  • "I thought we did a good job of give and take with good competitiveness on both sides". As with every scrimmage, every good play on one side of the ball means a poor play on the other (24%, 29 Votes)

Is it worth it to make note of how some of the Buff players are faring in spring scrimmages?
  • All I know is that this is the first time Buff fans have been allowed to see their team in action since November. Any info for the starved fan base is welcome! (45%, 65 Votes)
  • No. It's all just window dressing, and Dorrell (and other paranoid coaches across the country) aren't going to tip their hands on anything. Nothing to see here (31%, 44 Votes)
  • Yes. Even keeping everything vanilla, the coaches have to give fans at least a glimpse of what's in store for the fall, and which players are doing the best jobs in executing those schemes (24%, 34 Votes)

Sophomore offensive lineman Carson Lee has entered the Transfer Portal. Thoughts?
  • It frees up a scholarship. Now the question becomes: Who will fill that scholarship? Until we know the answer to that question, we can't know if this move was a net gain or a net loss (54%, 97 Votes)
  • Should have happened months ago. Lee still has felony assault charges pending from last October, so there was no guarantee he would ever see the field (34%, 62 Votes)
  • Sorry to see him go. The offensive line is already one of the weakest units on the team, and the Buffs can't afford to lose any depth (12%, 21 Votes)

Which quote of the day gives you the most optimism about the Buffs?
  • OL coach Kyle DeVan on defensive line: “Our second group of D-line is (darn) good and it may be just as good as the first group. I’ve really been impressed with those guys" (69%, 112 Votes)
  • HC Karl Dorrell: "Defensively, our pass rush is really improving from where it was a year ago ... We have a few guys that are part of that. Justin Jackson has been a guy that has been flashing" (21%, 34 Votes)
  • WR coach Phil McGeoghan on Daniel Arias: "I’ve been very pleased with Daniel’s progression, and he’s a guy who I’m really counting on this year to take that next step" (10%, 16 Votes)

247 Sports Analysts project Colorado will go 2-10 in the 2022 season. Thoughts?
  • I just hope that this will be bulletin board material in the locker room and weight room. If the Buffs were lacking for motivation before, this should help (43%, 109 Votes)
  • Sad to say, but it's probably a pretty fair assessment at this point. There is no defined quarterback, a loss at the skill positions, questions on both lines, and lost DB's (41%, 105 Votes)
  • Absurdly low. The preseason prognosticators see a few recognizable names who have left, and declare the program a disaster. Thankfully, the Buffs get to play the games and prove them wrong (16%, 42 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
