A quarter of the way through the season, how many more wins do you project for the Buffs in the final nine games?
  • Three or four. Just from talent alone, CU will win some more games. Probably come down to the final two looking for a sixth win and bowl eligibility, and failing ... just like most of the last decade (44%, 82 Votes)
  • One or two. Wyoming will be a win ... then what? Arizona was supposed to be an easy win, and they are 3-0. West Virginia on the road? Maybe. Tough to find wins left on the schedule (31%, 59 Votes)
  • Five or more. This team is still going bowling. There is plenty of time to correct mistakes, and plenty of other Big 12 teams with warts. CU still has five home games, and will get better. Courage! (25%, 47 Votes)

Houston 36, Colorado 20. Thoughts?
  • The offense is stagnant, the defense can't tackle, and the game plan is uninspired. Hard to see a bowl bid out of this team. Wyoming seems like the only sure win on the rest of the schedule right now (69%, 144 Votes)
  • I'd like to say I have faith in what Coach Prime is doing. He has earned the benefit of the doubt, but this team is underperforming, and that starts with the head coach (24%, 51 Votes)
  • There were some positives (yes, you have to squint). We'll see how Houston does the rest of the season. The Buffs made the Cougars look good - learn from it and move on (7%, 15 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for CU at Houston, Friday, 5:30 p.m., MT, ESPN
  • The line has bounced between 3.5-points and 6.5-points, and for good reason. CU remains an unknown, without an established quarterback. I foresee a close game, but I'm not sure if the Buffs will win (44%, 86 Votes)
  • This is going to be more fun than many Buff fans believe. Remember the September road trip to UCF? CU was a 13.5-point underdog, and won, 49-21. Sit back and enjoy CU's coming out party! (39%, 76 Votes)
  • CU has failed to impress the first two weekends, and it will come back to haunt the Buffs on the road. I'm very uncomfortable about this game, and wouldn't be surprised if the Buffs were to lose big (17%, 34 Votes)

Which of the following Big 12 games this weekend for you holds the most interest?
  • Utah at Wyoming - Saturday, 6:00 p.m., MT, CBSSN. Two reasons to watch ... Is Utah a legit Big 12 contender this year? And, CU gets the Cowboys next weekend, so some scouting is called for (61%, 96 Votes)
  • Kansas State at Arizona - Friday, 7:00 p.m., MT, Fox. Is it possible that we could live in a world in which K-State is 1-3, and Arizona is 3-0? Could happen Friday night (34%, 53 Votes)
  • Pitt at West Virginia - Saturday, 1:30 p.m., MT, ESPN. The "Backyard Brawl" may have lost some of its luster after West Virginia lost to Ohio, but this game is always a war (5%, 9 Votes)

ESPN reports Ryan Staub will be the starting quarterback against Houston. Thoughts?
  • Like it. Ryan Staub has the confidence of the team and of the coaching staff. If Staub gives CU the best chance to win, he should be the starter ... and the coaches should know (61%, 104 Votes)
  • What really caught my eye was Coach Prime's quote that he doesn't want a merry-go-round at QB. As opposed to, say, last week? What will this do to Salter's confidence? (32%, 54 Votes)
  • Not a fan. Staub didn't get his first TD pass until after two incompletions and a long run gave CU new life, then a long pass on third-and-six. Not sure that's enough of a resume to start (7%, 13 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
