CBS Big 12 Power Rankings has CU as it No. 10 team in the conference. Thoughts?
  • I'm actually just glad to live in a world where CU is ranked above six other teams in the conference. After a decade-plus of always finishing last, I'm glad to be "angry" at a No. 10 placement (45%, 95 Votes)
  • If you don't look at the Buffs through black-and-gold colored glasses, you realize that the Buffs have issues, and a tough Big 12 schedule. A winning record is not a bad result in 2025 (32%, 68 Votes)
  • Has everyone in the national press forgotten that CU went 9-4 last season - 7-2 in Big 12 play. In the wide open Big 12, do they really see the Buffs finishing with a losing conference record? (23%, 50 Votes)

Would you rank Coach Prime as one of the Top Ten coaches in the FBS?
  • Not yet, but perhaps after this season. If Coach Prime can win nine games without Shedeur and Travis, he will have shown the college football world that he is among the elite in the profession (61%, 99 Votes)
  • No. Coach Prime has certainly made inroads, but there simply isn't enough of a body of work to rate him over coaches with many more years of experience, and actual FBS titles (25%, 40 Votes)
  • Yes! To take a team from 1-11 to 9-4 in two seasons is just this side of a miracle. Do you think any of the other coaches on ESPN's list would have been able to accomplish what Coach Prime has done? (14%, 22 Votes)

100 days out from the start of the 2025 college football season, rate your level of confidence CU will post a second consecutive winning season
  • Medium. It's a long way to the start of the season, but the roster looks pretty good, and CU has seven home games. If I were betting today, I would go with the Buffs getting to seven wins this fall (52%, 82 Votes)
  • High. I'm not sure that CU will match last season's nine-win season, but I am completely confident that the Buffs will get to at least seven wins, going bowling again in 2025 (41%, 65 Votes)
  • Low. Unless the Buffs can fill some glaring holes (running back; linebacker), CU has an uphill climb ahead. Shedeur and Travis are gone, and the Big 12 doesn't have any gimme games (7%, 10 Votes)

CU receives a commitment from four-star tight end Gavin Mueller. Thoughts?
  • Great news! A commitment from a blue chip recruit sought after by Notre Dame, LSU, and Wisconsin. Nice to break the ice on the Class with a high quality recruit (61%, 115 Votes)
  • I like that Mueller isn't afraid of a challenge, and I like Mueller's quote that Coach Prime is looking for a receiver to take passes over the middle. Hope this works out for Mueller and the Buffs (32%, 60 Votes)
  • Not to be a negative Nelly, but Coach Prime has signed four-star tight ends before, but they don't last past spring practices. Fingers crossed Mueller is the start of a new trend (7%, 12 Votes)

CU's opener against Georgia Tech has been set for Friday, August 29th, at 6:00 p.m., MT, on ESPN. Thoughts?
  • Great news! A quality opponent? Check. On at prime time on a Friday night? Check. With exclusive ESPN coverage? Check. What's not to love? (75%, 108 Votes)
  • Glad that the game is not an 8:30 p.m., kickoff, but when was the last time CU got to open its season at 1:30 on Saturday of opening weekend? It's been years, if not decades (16%, 23 Votes)
  • It will be interesting to see what the Big 12 does with Auburn at Baylor, the only other Power Four game that Friday night. Will the conference split viewership with a head-to-head game? (9%, 13 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
