Coach Prime in Cleveland with Shedeur. Thoughts?
  • Fall Camp doesn't start until this weekend. Coaches - including Coach Prime - are on their last days off until January. How Coach Prime spends his off time is his business (80%, 32 Votes)
  • Last I heard, Coach Prime was the well paid head coach at the University of Colorado, with a 16-21 record. Just a thought: Pay more attention to your own team, Coach (13%, 5 Votes)
  • It would have been one thing if Coach Prime was spotted by local Cleveland news outlets, but he is making videos for his other son's YouTube channel. You seek out publicity, there will be backlash (7%, 3 Votes)

In a valuation of collegiate teams, CU comes in at No. 44 nationally (7th in the Big 12). Thoughts?
  • About right. Not sure about the methodology, but seeing CU as a middle of the road program in the Big 12 (unfortunately) pretty much reflects CU's reality (69%, 50 Votes)
  • Too low. The article set a base line with the Big Ten and SEC schools automatically valued higher. No Big 12 teams in the Top 25? Not sure I buy that reasoning (18%, 13 Votes)
  • Too high. Valuation should be based upon production. As long as CU produces inferior football and men's basketball teams, there's no methodology which should rate CU in the top half of the Big 12 (13%, 9 Votes)

CU Athletic Director Fernando Lovo: "Our goal has to be playing meaningful games in November and December". Thoughts?
  • A true statement. With three bowl games in the past 20 seasons, getting to six wins and a bowl bid has to be Job One this fall. "Strive for Six" ... and get there this time! (62%, 88 Votes)
  • Lovo is preparing us for a tough season. CU's goal needs to be championships, not just having a few meaningful games (to hopefully win) late in the season. Defeatism from the AD - in Year One. Sigh! (19%, 27 Votes)
  • Seems like a low bar. CU could be playing "meaningful" games in November ... with a 3-6 record, praying for a three-game winning streak. Buffs need to be playing meaningful games from September on (19%, 26 Votes)

Chances that CU's offensive line play exceeds that of last season ...
  • Medium. CU did go after transfers with playing experience instead of stars. Oh, and it won't be hard to beat the unit which was in the 100s nationally in rushing offense and total offense (44%, 93 Votes)
  • High. Coach Prime says he has eight or nine offensive linemen who can start. It's not just about talent, it's about depth, and, for once, CU has both. This line will make the "Go-Go" offense go! (38%, 82 Votes)
  • Low. The off-season is always the time to be optimistic, but you're trying to tell me that CU lost a first round NFL Draft pick in Jordan Seaton ... and is going to be better? Seeing is believing (18%, 38 Votes)

CU to open Fall Camp with a week in Colorado Springs. Thoughts?
  • I like it. Team bonding is important, especially when half the team is new to the program. Get out of Boulder (and its distractions), and focus on football (51%, 87 Votes)
  • I'm just glad that we are talking about football, even if it's just Fall Camp. It has been a looonnnggg off-season. I'm tired of bad forecasts for CU's season - let's get to football! (28%, 47 Votes)
  • Kinda sounds like a gimmick to me. Think of the logistics - all the equipment, housing and feeding over 100 athletes, medical treatments. CU has a state-of-the-art facility - use it! (21%, 36 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
