CU opens as a 4.5-point road underdog to West Virginia (Saturday, 10:00 a.m., MT, TNT). Thoughts?
  • Amazed this line isn't higher. Yes, West Virginia has struggled, but just beat a ranked Houston team on the road. I can't see the Buffs staying within two touchdowns of anyone right now (66%, 23 Votes)
  • Sounds about right. While Buff fans are suffering right now, Vegas sees two teams with identical 3-6, 1-5 records. Both have one good game, and a number of bad ones. Close to a toss up (29%, 10 Votes)
  • If Julian Lewis is healthy (left with a hand injury late), gets all the first team reps, and has a game plan built around him, I can actually see the Buffs winning this game. We'll see ... (5%, 2 Votes)

Arizona 52, Colorado 17. Thoughts?
  • Speechless. The team played with no energy, no pride, and no game plan. Not sure where the program goes from here, but it's nowhere right now (45%, 108 Votes)
  • If Pat Shurmur still has a job at the end of the season, there needs to be an investigation (and I'm not sure about Robert Livingston, either). This was a disgrace (28%, 67 Votes)
  • I'm just glad that Julian Lewis finally got into the game. If there is any chance of keeping Lewis for next year, he has to start, and have the offense built around his talents (27%, 64 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for CU's Homecoming game against Arizona (5:00 p.m., MT, FS1 or Fox)
  • I'm liking CU's chances in this one. Flush the Utah game, and remember how the Buffs played against a ranked Iowa State team. Buffs win at home over the Wildcats! (39%, 46 Votes)
  • The Buffs looked like a JV team last weekend, or, even worse, the 2022 CU team. Until the Buffs prove that they are not THAT team, you have to assume the opposition will crush the Buffs (37%, 43 Votes)
  • This is going to be a close game, and could come down to a turnover. I'd like to say the Buffs can win a coin flip game, but I'm not super confident. Buffs keep it close, but fall at home (24%, 28 Votes)

Which of the following Big 12 games this weekend for you holds the most interest?
  • No. 17 Cincinnati at No. 24 Utah (8:15 p.m., MT, ESPN). The game of the year for the Bearcats. An upset of Utah on the road would make Cincinnati a legitimate Big 12 title threat (60%, 60 Votes)
  • No. 13 Texas Tech at Kansas State (1:30 p.m., MT, Fox). This could have been the Game of the Year, but now it's a test for the Red Raiders, and a make-or-break game for the Wildcats (26%, 26 Votes)
  • West Virginia at No. 22 Houston (10:00 a.m., MT, FS1). Yes, it should be a rout, but CU is facing the Mountaineers next weekend, and I wouldn't mind seeing WVU with a six-game losing streak (14%, 14 Votes)

Which of the following factoids about Arizona to you is the most eyebrow raising?
  • That when CU defeated Arizona last season in Tucson, 34-7, the Buffs sacked Fifita seven times. This year, Arizona is ranked 109th in sacks allowed, so hopefully history will repeat itself (47%, 47 Votes)
  • That Arizona's defense has given up only four touchdown passes all season. With CU's rushing attack struggling (again), this is not a very encouraging stat (35%, 35 Votes)
  • That quarterback Noah Fifita went 24-for-26 passing in his last game ... and still lost. Arizona lost 31-28 to Houston, but it wasn't Fifita's fault (18%, 18 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
