Stewart Mandel's list of Top 25 head coaches has only three Big 12 coaches, none higher than 13th. Thoughts?
  • Just another off-season list with no value. Although, now that you've asked - Kenny Dillingham (ASU) and Sonny Dykes (TCU) should have made the list over some of the coaches who made the Top 25 (64%, 25 Votes)
  • Sounds about right. The Big Ten and SEC have the money, so it's not a surprise that they can pay for the best coaches. Until or unless the Big 12 and ACC get to equal footing, this list won't change (28%, 11 Votes)
  • Way too much disrespect for the Big 12, although it's surprising to see Lance Leipold on the list. Kansas has posted back-to-back 5-7 seasons - worse than CU's 12-13 over that span (8%, 3 Votes)

Rate your level of interest in March Madness
  • Medium. I'll get into it as the tournament gets underway. But, if I'm being honest, when CU is not involved - and the Buffs haven't been close the past two years - my interest isn't as high (38%, 43 Votes)
  • Low. With all of the one-and-done players and transfers, there aren't any players or programs worth rooting for anymore. I'll either watch the CU women's game ... or not at all (35%, 39 Votes)
  • High. One of the best times of the year in sports, especially the first weekend. 48 games in four days, with plenty of upsets. College sports at its purist ... I can't wait! (27%, 31 Votes)

Both men's and women's teams will be playing in the post-season. Thoughts on tournaments and seeding
  • Great that the women's team is in the NCAAs, and I hope they do well. I'll only be happy about the men's team if they don't lay an egg in Las Vegas like they did last season (a 21-point loss) (43%, 55 Votes)
  • Glad for both teams. The women's team has a decent draw as the No. 10 seed, and it's good for young the men's team to get in the extra practices. March Madness, here come the Buffs! (35%, 45 Votes)
  • Glad for the women, but sad that the men are still playing. A second straight season in something called the "College Basketball Crown"? If you can't get into the NCAA or NIT tournaments, stay home (22%, 29 Votes)

Utah head coach Morgan Scalley pledges $2 million from his salary to boost NIL funding for Utah players. Should Coach Prime do the same?
  • Until or unless CU finds a billionaire donor, the Buffs are going to behind on talent. Naming rights for Folsom, patches on uniforms, donations from coaches ... figure it out, AD Lovo! (49%, 106 Votes)
  • Yes ... and probably throw in a couple of million more. Coach Prime has more money than he could ever spend, and this is a make-or-break stretch for him. Surprised he hasn't already donated (35%, 75 Votes)
  • No. It's his money, and someone paid him that because they felt he was worth it. It's CU's job to find funding for its NIL programs, not Coach Prime's (16%, 36 Votes)

FanDuel has CU's over/under win total projection at 4.5 wins - lowest in the Big 12. Thoughts?
  • About right, I'm afraid. You can't take a 3-9 team (with a 1-8 Big 12 record), flush out all but 3-4 starters, and hope for a quick turnaround. Hard to admit, but a 4- or 5-win season is an upgrade (48%, 51 Votes)
  • Too low. Pundits are underestimating Coach Prime, and, more importantly, Coach Marion and quarterback Julian Lewis. This is a bowl team, at minimum. Take the over on your Buffs (35%, 37 Votes)
  • This is on the CU administration. If the non-conference schedule didn't have two Power Four teams (both on the road), but two G-6 teams at home, the over/under total would be higher (17%, 18 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
