Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff wants conference to have "opportunity to have some flexibility with respect to when games are played and who plays in those games". Thoughts?
  • Doesn't matter. This is just posturing. Negotiations for the next media deal aren't even scheduled to start until next winter. Until the new playoff scheme is identified, this is all just talk (56%, 98 Votes)
  • It only makes sense. The Pac-12 should be able to maneuver its schedule so as to get the most eyes on Pac-12 teams, even if it means sacrificing revenue in upcoming negotiations (33%, 57 Votes)
  • Not seeing it. The media partners already have incentive to show the most attractive games at optimal times. Giving up revenue (when the Pac-12 is already behind) makes no sense (11%, 20 Votes)

Which quote from strength and conditioning coach Shannon Turley gives you the most optimism for this season?
  • “I feel well prepared for (the challenge) ... I’m more equipped and can be more productive and efficient and get us to results and achievement earlier and at a higher level" (44%, 88 Votes)
  • “The players know where the standard is ... There’s less installation, and there’s more competition for us the second time around" (34%, 68 Votes)
  • “I take a lot of pride in it and consider myself a tremendous asset to our players and program in that aspect of injury prevention. It’s our No. 1 priority" (22%, 45 Votes)

Does the participation of two former Buffs in the Super Bowl influence your cheering interests in the game?
  • Yes. Since my team isn't participating, I have more reason to cheer for Chidobe Awuzie and Josh Tupou to get their Super Bowl rings as Cincinnati Bengals (55%, 124 Votes)
  • Not really. I'm just hoping for a good game and/or don't care about the outcome and/or only watch the game for the commercials (39%, 88 Votes)
  • No. I have allegiances for Cincinnati or Los Angeles which supersede my loyalty to the Buffs (6%, 15 Votes)

Which former Buff will likely be changing coaching jobs: Eric Bieniemy hired as head coach at New Orleans, or Jon Embree hired as TE coach at Denver?
  • Not sure, but I am glad that former Buff Chidera Uzo-Diribe has been hired as the outside linebackers coach at Georgia. Keep climbing the ladder, Chidera! (47%, 126 Votes)
  • Jon Embree as the new tight ends coach at Denver. Embree wasn't a good collegiate head coach, but he has been successful as a position coach in the NFL (most recently with San Francisco) (35%, 94 Votes)
  • Eric Bieniemy as the head coach at New Orleans. Bieniemy deserves his chance; he's qualified ... and the NFL could use some positive publicity on minority hiring (18%, 49 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from offensive coordinator Mike Sanford do you find to be the most encouraging?
  • "Right now we’re putting a system in place that really could embody the skill sets of somebody who can run tremendously at QB or somebody that’s going to be a surgeon at the line of scrimmage" (53%, 95 Votes)
  • “That position is always open for competition ...We’re going to compete with each other, not against each other ... There’s not going to be kind of a Team JT and a Team Brendon or Team Drew" (26%, 46 Votes)
  • “We have enough in that room. There’s enough clay in that room to be able to build this offense around their skill sets” (21%, 38 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
