Which of the following of Neill Woelk's Takeaways from the Air Force game to you rings the most significant?
  • Still no answer at quarterback ... Yes, it was raining, and yes, there were drops, but 5-for-21 for 51 yards, and a fumble on the first possession ... not a good look (53%, 134 Votes)
  • Inability to convert crucial short-yardage situations ... If the Buffs had scored after the muffed punt (or on the next possession), it could have been a different game (30%, 75 Votes)
  • CU's defense gave the Buffs a chance ... It was still a game in the third quarter, and the defense forced three turnovers. They wore down in the fourth, but otherwise did well (17%, 43 Votes)

Colorado opens as a 27.5-point underdog to Minnesota (Saturday, 1:30 p.m., MT, ESPN2). Thoughts?
  • Don't care, really. Scott Frost is already gone, and Karl Dorrell will be next. How many more blowout losses before he's fired? One? Two? The rest of the season? It's coming - only question is when (45%, 148 Votes)
  • Take Minnesota and give the points. I'm surprised that the line isn't even higher. Bet the house on every CU opponent until the Buffs prove otherwise. This will be over by the second quarter (40%, 129 Votes)
  • Sounds about right (unfortunately). The CU offense is struggling, and Minnesota can score. Pride will kick in, and the Buffs will show that they are Power Five players and keep this close (15%, 49 Votes)

Air Force 41, Colorado 10. Thoughts?
  • The countdown to the end of the Karl Dorrell era has officially begun. Will he make it to the start of Pac-12 play? To Halloween? If he is still the head coach at Thanksgiving ... I give up (47%, 204 Votes)
  • 7-0 less than a minute in? Down 20-0 early in the second quarter? Colorado has made it official - the worst Power Five team in the nation (and one of the worst in FBS) (27%, 118 Votes)
  • I do appreciate the effort of the Buff defense in keeping it a game for three quarters. If the CU offense had taken advantage of ANY of its opportunities, it would have been an actual game (26%, 116 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for Colorado at Air Force (1:30 p.m., MT, CBS)
  • Anyone who endured the second half of the TCU game knows that the Buffs are in disarray. AFA led the nation in rushing last year, and will put up big numbers against CU. An ugly, ugly loss (55%, 124 Votes)
  • The Buffs play as well as they did in the first half against TCU (except this time they convert red zone opportunities), and upset the Falcons to get the season back on track (23%, 53 Votes)
  • While I have a hard time seeing the Buffs completing the upset, I can see the Buffs keeping it close. Air Force wins the game, but CU covers the 17.5-point spread (22%, 49 Votes)

Which of following Pac-12 underdogs has the best chance at a victory this weekend?
  • Arizona (+10.5 v. Mississippi State). The key to beating a Mike Leach team is to out-score them, and the Wildcats have the ability to not only keep up, but win this game outright (37%, 77 Votes)
  • Stanford (+11.5 v. USC). The Cardinal always plays the Trojans well at home, and basically had a bye week (Colgate) to prepare for this game (35%, 72 Votes)
  • Arizona State (+11.5 at Oklahoma State). I hate to say it, but the Sun Devils have a pretty complete team (albeit put together by fraud). ASU can pull of this upset (19%, 40 Votes)
  • Washington State (+17 at Wisconsin). The Badgers will be torched by the Cougars' new quarterback, Cameron Ward. Wisconsin won't be able to keep up with the Cougars (9%, 18 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
