It's time! Your prediction for Colorado at UCLA (7:10 p.m., MT, Pac-12 Networks)
  • I can't see why this is a 17-point spread ... but I also have a hard time seeing the Buffs winning this game. I would bet on the Buffs to cover ... but not to win (49%, 128 Votes)
  • The Colorado defense is 0-for-the-season against experienced quarterbacks. DTR is a senior, and the Bruins have had a bye week to prepare. I'm afraid this is going to be a blowout loss (26%, 69 Votes)
  • I may be looking at this through black-and-gold colored glasses, but the Buffs played their best game of the year last weekend, and can catch a Bruin team looking ahead to the USC game. Buffs win! (25%, 64 Votes)

Which Pac-12 game (other than CU at UCLA) are you most interested in this weekend?
  • Washington State at Oregon (Sat., 8:30 p.m., MT, ESPN). The game which likely decides the Pac-12 North - and it will be over around 2:00 ET. Well done, Pac-12! (55%, 108 Votes)
  • Arizona State at Washington (Sat., 5:00 p.m., MT, FS1). Two disappointing teams ... and the Buffs get Washington at home next weekend. Are the 4-5 Huskies ready to pack it in? (37%, 73 Votes)
  • Utah at Arizona (Sat., noon, MT, Pac-12 Networks). Can the Wildcats make it two wins in a row (or, better stated, can the Wildcats show that they can keep the score close)? (6%, 12 Votes)
  • Stanford at Oregon State (Sat., 3:30 p.m., MT, Pac-12 Networks). Last stand for the 3-6 Cardinal, third chance for the 5-4 Beavers to become bowl eligible (2%, 4 Votes)

Buffs defeat Montana State in the opener, 94-90, in double overtime. Thoughts?
  • I like the resiliency the Buffs showed. Down 13 points in the second half (and five points with 53 seconds to play), the Buffs didn't fold. This bodes well for the Buffs in games to come (49%, 130 Votes)
  • I'm just glad CU didn't absorb what could be called a "bad loss" when NCAA tournament bids are being considered (and glad Stuart doesn't have to hear it from his MSU friends) (39%, 104 Votes)
  • It's going to be a long season. The Buffs struggled with their offense, committed too many turnovers, and the big men got into foul trouble early. The freshmen will be good ... but not right away (12%, 34 Votes)

Colorado men's basketball opens its regular season with a game against Montana State. Rate your interest in CU basketball this November:
  • High. With Battey back, a Top Ten Recruiting class, and the Buffs coming off of a second-round NCAA appearance, I'm excited about the season (58%, 163 Votes)
  • Medium. I'll be keeping an eye on the Buffs (is it really true that the Buffs last win over Montana State was in 1924?), then ramp up my attention after football season (34%, 95 Votes)
  • Low. I'll watch college basketball after the Super Bowl, when conference races and March Madness kick in. Before that? Not so much (8%, 23 Votes)

Washington, Oregon State and Nebraska fire coordinators. Thoughts on November firings?
  • I just think it's funny that Scott Frost was allowed to get rid of a number of coaches at Nebraska, while keeping his own job. Another losing season for the Cornhuskers in 2022? Love it!! (67%, 186 Votes)
  • I just think it's funny that Oregon State, after giving up 37 points to CU (27 points in regulation) saw fit to fire its defensive coordinator. High praise ... or an insult? (18%, 49 Votes)
  • Hmmm ... CU fired its offensive line coach and immediately saw improvement. Imagine how much better it could be if Dorrell had fired his offensive coordinator (15%, 44 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
