Where do you place the most blame for the current state of Colorado football?
  • On the coaches. It seems clear that most, if not all, of the offensive coaching staff needs to go, and now. Last in the nation in total offense? How is that even possible? (63%, 256 Votes)
  • On the administration. Sure, it was tough hiring a coach in February when Midnight Mel left, but why give Dorrell, who was on nobody's list, an $18 million buyout? CU is boxed into a corner (30%, 120 Votes)
  • On the players. Brenden Rice said: "You see that some people are buying in and some people are not fully in. We need a full buy-in". CU needs some leaders in the locker room (7%, 29 Votes)

California 26, Colorado 3. Thoughts?
  • Disgusting, absolutely disgusting. Did the CU coaching staff understand that this was a Cal team with the worst defense in the Pac-12? Pathetic effort (61%, 244 Votes)
  • Unless CU has another bye week to work out the "subtle changes" (which they don't), they won't get another win. Fire Chiaverini now, and at least try to salvage something positive from the offense (31%, 123 Votes)
  • It was a good week last week; this week it was a bad week. With the Pac-12 in disarray, the Buffs have five more chances at an up week. Put this game in the rear view mirror, and move on (8%, 32 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for Colorado at California (Sat., 1:40 p.m., MT, Pac-12 Networks):
  • I feel good about this one. The Buffs improved significantly over the bye week, and Cal just finds ways to lose games. Before a quiet Cal in Berkeley, Buffs pick up win No. 3 (39%, 99 Votes)
  • Cal has done well early in games, but fades late. I just don't know if the Buffs have it in them to take advantage. Buffs come agonizingly close to a win, but fail in the end (35%, 88 Votes)
  • I don't like the feel of this one. The Buffs can't be trusted on the road, and one game (one half, actually) does not mean the Buffs are back. Reality kicks in - a double digit defeat (26%, 64 Votes)

What to you would constitute a "win" for the Buffs in their game against Cal?
  • Nothing short of an actual "win". The Buffs are playing against a 1-5 team which has one FBS win since 2019. If the Buffs come away with anything other than a "W", it's a bad day (92%, 251 Votes)
  • The Buffs opened as a ten-point underdog to the Bears. Cal has a fifth-year senior at QB. Play well on defense, show continued growth on offense, and keep it close - I'll be happy (4%, 12 Votes)
  • Anything short of being embarrassed would be a "win". Against decent competition, the Buffs are giving up over 30 points a game. Let's start with being competitive (4%, 10 Votes)

Which non-CU/Cal Pac-12 game are you most interested in this weekend?
  • Oregon at UCLA ... ESPN GameDay on hand. Chip Kelly v. his former team ... Will the Ducks hold onto their waning playoff hopes? Will UCLA assert itself as a challenger for the Pac-12 South title? (63%, 151 Votes)
  • USC at Notre Dame ... We're used to CU having a losing record in October, but USC? Can the 3-3 Trojans salvage some sense of pride, or are they mailing it in for the rest of the season? (19%, 46 Votes)
  • Utah at Oregon State ... At various times this season, both the Utes and the Beavers have looked like the best team in the conference. The Utes dominated ASU last weekend (in the second half) (14%, 34 Votes)
  • Washington at Arizona ... Friday night ... Shouldn't be much a game (UW an 18.5-point favorite), but Arizona is a like a car accident on the highway - you can't help but watch (2%, 6 Votes)
  • BYU at Washington State ... Battle of the Cougars. WSU has won three straight, but is without its coach. BYU was ranked 10th in the nation ... before two straight losses (2%, 4 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
