CU is ranked No. 5 in the latest CBS "Bottom 25". Thoughts?
  • I just hope that this is up on every door on the fifth floor of the Champions Center (the admin floor). It's years past time that CU wakes up and does whatever it takes to improve the program (66%, 183 Votes)
  • An embarrassment, to be sure. There is only one other Power Five conference team on the list (Boston College, back at No. 23). Paper bag time at the UCLA game next weekend? (29%, 80 Votes)
  • The Buffs are struggling, to be sure, but most teams have not taken on the non-conference slate the Buffs have. This will work itself out over time (5%, 15 Votes)

Who do you believe will be the starting quarterback against Minnesota?
  • J.T. Shrout - Shrout's debut was inauspicious, but it was on the road and in the rain (with six drops). He will get his second chance against Minnesota (70%, 209 Votes)
  • Owen McCown - Dorrell hinted after the Air Force game that it may take a third quarterback to spark the team. The Buffs literally have nothing to lose - give the freshman a chance (16%, 49 Votes)
  • Brendon Lewis - Fans were calling for J.T. Shrout to start, and he did against Air Force. After a 5-21, 51 yard, one interception performance, Lewis will be back (14%, 39 Votes)

Which quote from the players gives you the most hope for the game against Minnesota?
  • Honestly, it doesn't make a difference what they say. No disrespect to the players, but, until the offense scores and the defense gets more stops, it's all talk. CU needs results (97%, 34 Votes)
  • Linebacker Quinn Perry: "We're all on the same page. We're very frustrated. We can't less this happen again ... We have a championship level defense" (3%, 1 Votes)
  • Safety Isaiah Lewis: "Seeing Tanner Morgan last year, we have a much better feel for our reads ... After last year, we want to prove a point" (0%, 0 Votes)

Which of the following of Neill Woelk's Takeaways from the Air Force game to you rings the most significant?
  • Still no answer at quarterback ... Yes, it was raining, and yes, there were drops, but 5-for-21 for 51 yards, and a fumble on the first possession ... not a good look (53%, 134 Votes)
  • Inability to convert crucial short-yardage situations ... If the Buffs had scored after the muffed punt (or on the next possession), it could have been a different game (30%, 75 Votes)
  • CU's defense gave the Buffs a chance ... It was still a game in the third quarter, and the defense forced three turnovers. They wore down in the fourth, but otherwise did well (17%, 43 Votes)

Colorado opens as a 27.5-point underdog to Minnesota (Saturday, 1:30 p.m., MT, ESPN2). Thoughts?
  • Don't care, really. Scott Frost is already gone, and Karl Dorrell will be next. How many more blowout losses before he's fired? One? Two? The rest of the season? It's coming - only question is when (45%, 148 Votes)
  • Take Minnesota and give the points. I'm surprised that the line isn't even higher. Bet the house on every CU opponent until the Buffs prove otherwise. This will be over by the second quarter (40%, 129 Votes)
  • Sounds about right (unfortunately). The CU offense is struggling, and Minnesota can score. Pride will kick in, and the Buffs will show that they are Power Five players and keep this close (15%, 49 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
