Dorrell after Monday's practice: "We know that both of those guys still need a lot of work. They both had issues in the game, but we do have a plan in place"
  • I hope this is way of saying: "Everyone on the planet knows that Shrout is going to start, but we want to keep the benefit of keeping Air Force guessing until kickoff" (37%, 124 Votes)
  • I really don't care much at this point. This team is going to be getting a new coach in 2023, and if Dorrell wants to ride off into the sunset with Lewis by his side, so be it (34%, 113 Votes)
  • If this is really what Dorrell believes, then he is either delusional or blind. He can't be so stubborn as to believe Lewis is still the starter, can he? (29%, 99 Votes)

Colorado listed as a 16.5-point underdog to Air Force (Saturday, 1:30 p.m., MT, CBS). Thoughts?
  • So ... CU showed it has no ability to stop the run, and Air Force ran for over 500 yards in its opener. Objectively, there's no way CU will keep this close. Take Air Force and give whatever (58%, 143 Votes)
  • I'm just interested to watch the line move. TCU's line went from 6.5 to 13.5, and proved correct. Air Force opened at 13.5 and immediately went to 16.5 - How high will it go by Saturday? (22%, 54 Votes)
  • Air Force is a solid program, and is rightly favored. But CU's offense (with hopefully Shrout at quarterback) has potential. Not predicting a CU win necessarily, but take CU and the points (20%, 51 Votes)

After having some time to digest CU's 38-13 loss to TCU, how are you feeling about CU's season?
  • I'm still numb ... Oh, and Air Force rushed for 582 yards in its opener. When was the last time CU was a three-touchdown underdog to a G-5 team? That's probably CU's new reality (55%, 186 Votes)
  • No change. At the bare minimum, there needs to be a change at quarterback ... At the maximum, fire Dorrell now and elevate Phil Mcgeoghan to interim head coach (39%, 132 Votes)
  • A little better, actually. After getting past the emotion of the moment (and watching Oregon get pounded, 49-3), there is some perspective. Each week will bring a new opportunity. Time to move on (6%, 18 Votes)

CU turns a 7-6 halftime deficit into a 38-13 embarrassment. Thoughts?
  • We keep being promised progress, but every year it's the same old stuff. Should we be debating the starting quarterback ... or whether Karl Dorrell should be head coach in 2023? (59%, 207 Votes)
  • I'm torn ... Is this as bad as the Chuck Fairbanks era, or as bad as the Jon Embree era? To be determined ... Wake me when it's over (25%, 88 Votes)
  • The first half was close, and the Buffs could have had a good lead if they hadn't made mistakes in the red zone. It's a long season, so we'll see how the Buffs react (16%, 56 Votes)

Start Date: September 2, 2022 @ 11:52 pm

It's (finally) time! Your prediction for TCU at Colorado (Friday, 8:00 p.m., MT, ESPN)
  • Karl Dorrell's "revenge and respect" tour begins Friday night. No one outside of the Buff Nation believes, but we know better. Buffs will take down the Horned Frogs! (51%, 177 Votes)
  • I hope that I'm wrong, but I'm concerned that this will be a reality check for the Buffs. The CU secondary gets exposed, and TCU runs away with a two-touchdown (gulp - or worse!) victory (30%, 104 Votes)
  • I can certainly see CU keeping the score close, but I have a hard time seeing the Buffs pulling out the victory. Take the Buffs and the points (up to 13.5!!) ... but TCU wins the game (19%, 68 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
