Oregon State 42, Colorado 9. Thoughts?
  • Okay, we're back to being one of the worst teams in college football. The Buffs are out-talented on both sides of the ball, and have won their one game of the season (49%, 124 Votes)
  • CU has one last chance at a win against ASU, then it's time to shut it down for the season. Tad Boyle & Co. open next Sunday - I'll be glad for the distraction (28%, 72 Votes)
  • The Buff defense actually did a fairly good job in the first half, but got no help from the offense. A 14-0 run in 11 seconds to open the third quarter made the rest of the game inconsequential (23%, 57 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for Colorado at Oregon State (Saturday, 6:00 p.m., MT, Pac-12 Networks)
  • The Buffs aren't much better, but they have hope, and that means a great deal in college. CU won't win, but will beat the 23.5-point spread (53%, 126 Votes)
  • It's going to rain, and the rain will shorten the game with more runs than passes. These Buffs are motivated - and undefeated under Sanford. CU in an upset! (24%, 57 Votes)
  • It's been a fun ride this last two weeks, with the CU program giving its fans at least a speck of optimism. The ride ends here - Oregon State in a blowout (23%, 55 Votes)

The Pac-12 has a game between two top teams this weekend: No. 9 UCLA at No. 10 Oregon. Thoughts?
  • I think that the Bruins can stay with the Ducks. DTR is finally playing like an All-Pac-12 quarterback. Oregon (remember the Georgia game?) will be the team exposed. I'm picking UCLA (44%, 92 Votes)
  • I'm not really paying attention to teams over 100 spots ahead of CU in the rankings. I'm actually more interested to see how Arizona State (CU's Homecoming opponent) does against Stanford (31%, 66 Votes)
  • No. 9 UCLA has been lucky (and played an absurdly easy non-conference schedule). Chip Kelly and Co. will be trucked by the Ducks. Nothing to see here (25%, 53 Votes)

Slight deviation (but CU men's basketball does have its first game on Oct. 30th). ESPN and CBS have CU as the 9th-best team in the Pac-12. Thoughts?
  • So ... CU is underestimated? Isn't that true about almost every Tad Boyle team in the preseason? This team might start out slow, but, as Boyle put, they'll be "dangerous" next March (67%, 138 Votes)
  • Seems low, but probably not too far off. Evan Battey and Jabari Walker left some very large shoes to fill, and I'm not sure the Buffs have enough inside to compete (20%, 42 Votes)
  • Sorry, but I can't multi-task. Until the end of the football season (and probably until the next head coach is named), my focus will be on football. I'll check in with Boyle & Co. in January (13%, 27 Votes)

CU hires search firm of Eastman & Beaudine to assist in coaching hire. Thoughts?
  • I don't know how this will work out, but with two months to find the right fit, the more qualified help CU can get, the more I like it. CU - and Rick George - can't afford another miss (77%, 216 Votes)
  • Sad news ... The Eastman & Beaudine website claims to have helped CU hire Karl Dorrell ... so I'm not thinking this is a day to celebrate (14%, 38 Votes)
  • Great news! This is the search firm who helped to identify Mel Tucker as an FBS coordinator who was ready to take on a Power Five head coaching position. I like this move (9%, 27 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
