CU's Strength of Schedule (81-71, 53.3%) rated 60th in the nation. Thoughts?
  • I guess that belies the narrative that CU can't win this year because the schedule is too hard. "No excuses" applies here - get out there and win some games, Buffs! (44%, 84 Votes)
  • Anyone else wish CU had UCLA's schedule (63-85, 42.6%; 129th nationally)? Bruins guaranteed a 3-0 non-conference record - that's where "Strength of Schedule" should be measured (40%, 77 Votes)
  • Last year's stats include a 4-8 USC team and a 4-8 Washington team - two teams CU has to play on the road in back-to-back games in November. Anyone want to put those in the "gimme" column for CU? (16%, 30 Votes)

Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff: "Let's be very clear. No Pac-12 team is joining the Big 12". Thoughts?
  • What else was he supposed to say? He can't stop the disintegration of his conference, but has to sound like he's got it under control. Nice quotable quote, but that's about it (55%, 118 Votes)
  • I like it. A Commissioner who is willing to push back a little and speak up for the conference. Now, let's see him make it a reality ... and bring home a media rights deal to keep the Pac-12 together (31%, 66 Votes)
  • Well, technically there is no "Pac-12" at this point, so if there is a defection, Kliavkoff's statement is still correct. It may not happen until the end of the season, but it will happen (14%, 32 Votes)

As Fall Camp is set to open, the starting quarterback is yet to be determined. If you had to guess today, who will be CU's starter v. TCU?
  • Brendon Lewis - He started all 12 games last year. Dorrell: “Whether it’s good or bad, you learn from that experience. That’s what Brendon was able to do" (40%, 93 Votes)
  • Doesn't matter, because the CU offense will struggle regardless of who earns the first start. My money would be on betting that neither player will start all 12 games this fall (34%, 79 Votes)
  • J.T. Shrout - Finally healthy, the transfer from Tennessee will earn the start. Dorrell: “He’s completely 100% right now" (26%, 59 Votes)

Which Karl Dorrell quote from Pac-12 Media Day gives you the most optimism about the program heading into the 2022 season?
  • "We had a number of players who left ... We feel like we're in a better position now than we were a year ago. That's what no one knows and that's an exciting part for us as a football program" (55%, 96 Votes)
  • "The positive is that we're able to build our team with guys that are like-minded and players that are on the same page with a staff that's been very invested in these young people" (30%, 52 Votes)
  • "It's a challenging schedule, absolutely. We want to be measured up against the best in the country. This gives us a chance to make a big impression with a lot of people" (15%, 26 Votes)

Preseason Pac-12 Media Poll picks Colorado to finish last. Thoughts?
  • Until CU proves different, this is going to be the perception. The Buffs have a chance against TCU to begin changing the narrative, but until there are "W's" on the ledger, this is CU '22 (80%, 137 Votes)
  • Nothing to see here. This was the same media bunch who didn't have a single Buff on the first- or second-team All-Pac-12 teams. At least they are consistent in their bias (13%, 22 Votes)
  • It just bugs me that this is the first year without divisions. Instead of CU being picked to finish 6th in the South, CU is picked to finish "12th". That's painful to look at (7%, 13 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
