Penn State players leading resumption of players' fight for revenue sharing. Thoughts?
  • Not going to work because it can't work. If the players get a slice of the pie, there won't be enough pie to fund the non-revenue sports. Title IX lawsuits, here we come (54%, 65 Votes)
  • The next inevitable step. Some programs (read: the top 24-36) will be able to afford to have a revenue sharing program. They will form their own league, and the rest can go back to playing football (26%, 31 Votes)
  • It makes some sense on a superficial level. This is just the slow (?) evolution towards salaried players. May as get it over with before the next TV deals are signed (20%, 25 Votes)

CU picks up a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Hank Zilinskas from Cherry Creek. Thoughts?
  • Well done, CU coaching staff! A three-star commit from an in-state school in a position of need. Zilinskas checks all of the boxes. This is the type of commit which will help build CU's brand in CO (53%, 129 Votes)
  • We can only hope that the recruitment for Zilinskas will blow up like it did for former CU OL recruit, Naquil Betrand - but that he won't decommit when he gets "better" offers (30%, 73 Votes)
  • One other Power Five offer, and not even rated by Rivals. Please wake me when CU picks up a commitment from a player other Power Five schools are drooling over ... it's been awhile (17%, 41 Votes)

Which of Neill Woelk's Reasons for Optimism about the Buffs heading into Fall Camp do you most agree with?
  • That CU has upgraded its coaching staff. Without five-star recruits to work with, it comes down to coaching, and CU has better coaches than last year (51%, 100 Votes)
  • That CU will be running a new offense. To be honest, it couldn't get much worse, but here's hoping for a major upgrade under OC Mike Sanford (32%, 64 Votes)
  • That CU will have improved quarterback play. Similar to answer No. 2 - QB play was poor last year. Hopefully competition will bring out the best of this fall's starter (10%, 19 Votes)
  • That the schedule works in CU's favor. The Buffs will be battle-tested by their non-conference schedule, and can hit the easiest part of the Pac-12 slate (UCLA, at UA, Cal) ready to win (4%, 8 Votes)
  • That CU will be more confident on defense. It will be Year Two under DC Chris Wilson, and the Buffs who are returning will be well versed on what is expected of them (3%, 6 Votes)

Report: The Pac-12 and Big 12 have broken off negotiations for a merger. Thoughts?
  • It could be bad news which turns into good news. If this gives the Four Corner schools the final push to take off on their own for the Big 12, it could allow CU to have a decent landing spot (58%, 124 Votes)
  • It is what it is until it isn't. No one thought that USC and UCLA would leave for the Big Ten, until they did, and no one thought Oklahoma and Texas would leave the Big 12. Don't give up on a merger (25%, 53 Votes)
  • This is the end of the Pac-12. There may be some talk of expansion (San Diego State and Boise State?), but that would just be a band-aid until Oregon and Washington leave and kill the Pac-12 for good (17%, 38 Votes)

Report: Notre Dame looking for $75 million annually to stay independent. Thoughts?
  • I don't know what effect this might have on the Pac-10, but I do know that it is another example of how off the charts absurd college football has become (80%, 193 Votes)
  • Good news for the Pac-12. If Notre Dame is off the market, the Big Ten may shut down its expansion, which means Oregon and Washington will have to deal with its Pac-10 remnants rather than walk (17%, 40 Votes)
  • Bad news for the Pac-12. According to the report, NBC may be looking for some Big 12 games as additional inventory in order to have games before or after the Notre Dame contests (3%, 9 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
