Just curious ... Any interest in attending CU's first trip to play Air Force in Colorado Springs in 50 years?
  • No. One of the following: I won't be in town ... I don't live in Colorado ... I don't want to watch my Buffs lose to a Mountain West team (again) ... Other ... (48%, 96 Votes)
  • Yes. I'm not sure about the outcome, but I am excited about the chance to watch my Buffs in a hostile stadium without having to get on a plane to do so (41%, 81 Votes)
  • Perhaps, but I'm not sure right now. I know I'll have to pay a premium price if I wait, but I want to see how my life unfolds between now in September and/or see how the Buffs fare against TCU (11%, 23 Votes)

Karl Dorrell is given a "pressure is mounting" - one of the eight "hottest" seats in the country. Thoughts?
  • Nope. Another national publication that has no idea what is going on in Boulder. Short of a 2-10 season, Dorrell is not going to be in danger until 2023 at the earliest (56%, 136 Votes)
  • Every coach is hired to be fired, so preseason ratings mean nothing, but I did like the quote: "The one thing you can't be in college football is boring. And CU is booorrring" (28%, 68 Votes)
  • Sounds about right. From 4-2 and Coach of the Year to 4-8 and not impressive. You change out over half of your coaching staff ... the next change is the head coach (16%, 40 Votes)

What is your predication for when will CU's future conference alignment will be settled?
  • In the next month. By opening media negotiations now, Pac-12 teams will have an opportunity to see what the options are for staying together. if that doesn't look attractive, it's time to move on (47%, 113 Votes)
  • Not anytime soon. Nothing (including the defections of USC and UCLA) will go into effect until 2024. Patience is more important now that a quick solution. CU needs to take it slow and get it right (43%, 103 Votes)
  • Very soon. There is a pause while everyone catches their breath, but schools like CU understand that it's time to get a permanent home before the music stops (10%, 24 Votes)

How would you rate CU's "Fear Index" in the realignment game of musical chairs?
  • Moderate ... If college football moves to super-conferences anytime soon, CU will be on the outside looking in. If we're talking about the short term, the Buffs should be safe (42%, 106 Votes)
  • High ... Colorado hasn't shown much institutional interest in competing at a high level, and market size isn't as important as appeal (24%, 60 Votes)
  • Extreme ... Colorado has found new and improved ways of messing things up over the past two decades. It wouldn't surprise me if CU ended up in the Mountain West when this is all said and done (20%, 50 Votes)
  • Low ... With geography, history, and the Denver television market, the Buffs are in solid position to have a seat at the table moving forward (14%, 35 Votes)

After a week of turmoil and speculation, what is your current prediction for CU's conference affiliation come 2024?
  • A member of the revamped Big 12, with the "Four Corners" four joining Oregon and Utah in a Big 12 super conference (26%, 53 Votes)
  • A member of a revamped Big 12, with CU, Utah, and the Arizona schools joining the Big 12, with Oregon and Washington going to the Big Ten (23%, 46 Votes)
  • A member of the Pac-12, with a formal Alliance with the ACC to keep both conferences relevant and attractive to ESPN and Fox (18%, 36 Votes)
  • A member of the Big Ten super-conference, with college football divided into two huge super-conferences, with most of the Pac-12 joining the Big Ten (12%, 25 Votes)
  • A member of the Mountain West, with CU's decline over the past two decades making the Buffs pay the ultimate penalty for poor play and stewardship (10%, 21 Votes)
  • A member of the decimated Pac-12, with Oregon and Washington gone, with the remnants cobbling together a conference with a few Mountain West add-ons (6%, 12 Votes)
  • A member of the revamped Pac-12, with the remaining ten schools adding schools from the Big 12, along with schools like Boise State and San Diego State (5%, 10 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
