Which of following Pac-12 underdogs has the best chance at a victory this weekend?
  • Arizona (+10.5 v. Mississippi State). The key to beating a Mike Leach team is to out-score them, and the Wildcats have the ability to not only keep up, but win this game outright (37%, 77 Votes)
  • Stanford (+11.5 v. USC). The Cardinal always plays the Trojans well at home, and basically had a bye week (Colgate) to prepare for this game (35%, 72 Votes)
  • Arizona State (+11.5 at Oklahoma State). I hate to say it, but the Sun Devils have a pretty complete team (albeit put together by fraud). ASU can pull of this upset (19%, 40 Votes)
  • Washington State (+17 at Wisconsin). The Badgers will be torched by the Cougars' new quarterback, Cameron Ward. Wisconsin won't be able to keep up with the Cougars (9%, 18 Votes)

Karl Dorrell to media: "Good possibility" that both Brendon Lewis and J.T. Shrout will play against Air Force. Thoughts?
  • Your kidding, right? After 12 1/2 games, Dorrell still can't see that Lewis is not the answer? If Shrout doesn't start this Saturday, then the game will be over before it begins (45%, 140 Votes)
  • Fine, as long as it is in context. If Shrout starts, and Lewis is brought in for a change of pace - and to use his legs - using both quarterbacks would make sense (34%, 107 Votes)
  • It really doesn't (and shouldn't) matter. Until or unless the CU defense finds a way to stop from being gashed up the middle, you could have Tom Brady at quarterback and still lose (21%, 65 Votes)

USC moves into the Top Ten in the latest AP poll; Oregon drops out. Thoughts?
  • Who cares about polls? We live in a world where CU doesn't even exist in the world of Power Five football (and Arizona received a vote in the poll). Sorry - Not the least bit interested in the polls (69%, 171 Votes)
  • Sorry (not sorry) to see Oregon fall out of the poll. The Ducks see themselves as a playoff contender, but were exposed as frauds before the calendar even hit Labor Day. Made the weekend better (19%, 46 Votes)
  • Beating up on Rice shouldn't move USC into the Top Ten. Too bad the Trojans won't get their comeuppance until they travel to Salt Lake City in October (12%, 30 Votes)

Dorrell after Monday's practice: "We know that both of those guys still need a lot of work. They both had issues in the game, but we do have a plan in place"
  • I hope this is way of saying: "Everyone on the planet knows that Shrout is going to start, but we want to keep the benefit of keeping Air Force guessing until kickoff" (37%, 124 Votes)
  • I really don't care much at this point. This team is going to be getting a new coach in 2023, and if Dorrell wants to ride off into the sunset with Lewis by his side, so be it (34%, 113 Votes)
  • If this is really what Dorrell believes, then he is either delusional or blind. He can't be so stubborn as to believe Lewis is still the starter, can he? (29%, 99 Votes)

Colorado listed as a 16.5-point underdog to Air Force (Saturday, 1:30 p.m., MT, CBS). Thoughts?
  • So ... CU showed it has no ability to stop the run, and Air Force ran for over 500 yards in its opener. Objectively, there's no way CU will keep this close. Take Air Force and give whatever (58%, 143 Votes)
  • I'm just interested to watch the line move. TCU's line went from 6.5 to 13.5, and proved correct. Air Force opened at 13.5 and immediately went to 16.5 - How high will it go by Saturday? (22%, 54 Votes)
  • Air Force is a solid program, and is rightly favored. But CU's offense (with hopefully Shrout at quarterback) has potential. Not predicting a CU win necessarily, but take CU and the points (20%, 51 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
