CU receives a commitment from three-star edge rusher Carson Mott. Thoughts?
- A position of need? Check. Power Five offers? Check. Beating out Cal for the services of a California three-star defensive player? Check. Count me in ... (56%, 90 Votes)
- Looks like a good pickup, I guess. Still, the offer sheet has mostly Mountain West teams, and Mott barely made the Top 100 list in his home state. Another decent project, but right now, CU needs studs (25%, 40 Votes)
- I'm just wondering why Mott de-committed from Cal. Does this mean that Mott will de-commit from CU down the road? It's a long time from now to Signing Day in December ... (19%, 31 Votes)

Which of the following factoids about senior wide receiver Daniel Arias do you find to be the most interesting?
- That despite having the same position coach (Darrin Chiaverini) for the past four seasons, Arias says "it's fun to play football now" under his new offensive coaches (74%, 105 Votes)
- That Arias already holds the single season record for forced fair catches (13), but will continue to play on special teams (and set the all-time FFC record) as a senior (16%, 22 Votes)
- That Arias was born in the Dominican Republic, moved to the US when he was six, and overcame language barriers and a lack of knowledge about football to become a Power Five prospect (10%, 14 Votes)

Which quote from The Athletic "State of the Program" article on Colorado is the most telling?
- Pac-12 coach: "They have had some players that should excel, but there’s just been a lot of (coaching) changes for those kids over the years. They really don’t get a chance to get into a groove" (59%, 75 Votes)
- OC Mike Sanford: “Obviously, on paper we’re supposed to be terrible. Everybody’s saying that. But I think internally there’s a different feeling" (24%, 31 Votes)
- DC Chris Wilson: “This is Year 3 for us in the program. You can see the culture shifting. Now we just got to get the results from it. You can see us trending the right direction" (17%, 21 Votes)

What do you think of the argument that schools like UMass and New Mexico are only four years and a $644 million sugar daddy away from a College Football Playoff berth. Thoughts?
- I'm not really buying the narrative. Phil Knight has contributed $1 billion with a "B" to the University of Oregon (not all to the athletic department), and the Ducks are still looking for a title (42%, 48 Votes)
- Sad, but true. The days of building a program the right way are now in the nostalgic past. If you want wins, it's going to take outside dollars to make it happen (36%, 41 Votes)
- I just wish a Buff fan would win the lottery and test the theory (with a head start on UMass and New Mexico), a title could be bought for around $400-$450 million (22%, 26 Votes)

Forty years ago, the University of Colorado was in a bind, trying to hire a head coach in June. Bill McCartney was the unlikely choice. Thoughts?
- A cautionary tale for impatient Buff fans. Dorrell already has more wins in 1 1/2 seasons than McCartney had in three seasons. If CU is going to rise from the depths, it's going to take time (47%, 82 Votes)
- An unknown defensive coordinator from Michigan who went on to become CU's all-time winningest coach. A significant day in the history of CU football (33%, 58 Votes)
- Considering the timing, it was a lucky break for CU to get a coach (and have an administration) who would do what it takes to get CU to the top (20%, 36 Votes)

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.
SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.
The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!
‘SkoBuffs!! Drub the Nubs.
Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.
Did Coach Hagan just let the cat out of the bag regarding Colorado’s starting QB?
Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
