As the season approaches, rate your level of concern that CU is consistently in double digits in Big 12 standings projections
  • Low. CU was given a 5.5 over/under win total last year, and won nine games. CU has a 5.5 over/under win total projection again this year. I'm comfortable watching the CU beat the odds - again (63%, 118 Votes)
  • Medium. It's true that CU is one of only a few Big 12 teams starting a new quarterback, and has only one starter back on offense, but Coach Prime has proven the pundits wrong before (31%, 58 Votes)
  • High. We've been given eight months of positive stories about our team, but it's hard to ignore the fact that those who do this for a living doubt CU's ability to navigate the Big 12 (6%, 11 Votes)

Who will start a game first in 2025: Shedeur Sanders for Cleveland, or Julian Lewis for CU?
  • I going to go out on a limb here, and say neither will start in 2025. Both will play this fall, and get their opportunities to start in future seasons, but I'm not sure about this year (49%, 92 Votes)
  • Lewis. It's going to hard for Shedeur to get to the starting role this season, but Julian is going to play this fall, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a start for the freshman (28%, 52 Votes)
  • Shedeur. Yes, Joe Flacco has been named the Game One starter, but Flacco is 40, with a history of injuries. It may take awhile, but Shedeur will start before the snow falls (23%, 45 Votes)

Which of the following freshman position groups do you believe will be the most likely to see action this fall?
  • Wide receivers Quanell Farrakhan and Quentin Gibson. CU has many talented wide receivers, but it will be hard to keep these high-profile freshmen on the sidelines (54%, 83 Votes)
  • Defensive lineman London Merritt and Alexander McPherson. There will be rotations along the defensive line, so it wouldn't be a surprise if a freshman (most likely Merritt) saw significant action (30%, 46 Votes)
  • Tight ends Corbin Laisure and Zayne DeSouza. CU wouldn't have recruited two freshman tight ends unless Coach Prime and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur intended to use them ... right? (Right??) (16%, 25 Votes)

The 2025 season opener against Georgia Tech is now NEXT WEEK. Rate your current level of confidence in a CU victory
  • Medium. Georgia Tech is a good team, and has a star quarterback and running back returning. Glad this is a home game ... it's going to be close, coming down to a turnover or two (63%, 132 Votes)
  • High. The college football world is about to get a huge surprise. The Buffs are better on both sides of the ball (yes, even with the loss of Shedeur and Travis). Buffs take down the Yellow Jackets! (26%, 54 Votes)
  • Low. There is a reason why Georgia Tech is a 4.0-point favorite on the road. That makes the Yellow Jackets a touchdown favorite on a neutral site. I'd rather be starting against Delaware (11%, 25 Votes)

Report: Big Ten discussing expanding College Football Playoffs to 24 or 28 teams. Thoughts?
  • I hate it. It's bad enough that 8-4 teams will make a 16-team playoff, but with 28? Just go 7-5 and you're in the mix. Not a fan of rewarding mediocrity, and making a mockery of the regular season (52%, 66 Votes)
  • I'm thinking of this from the perspective of a Buff fan. The 9-3 Buffs would have made the playoffs last season, and probably would have hosted a playoff game at Folsom. Count me in! (36%, 45 Votes)
  • I like it. Seven guaranteed bids for SEC/Big Ten; five for Big 12/ACC; two for G6 and two at large, it would be a fun December/January every year. An advantage for the Big Two, but not a huge one (12%, 15 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
