CSU suspends football activities following allegations of racism, verbal abuse. Thoughts?
  • This is just the latest nail in the CSU coffin. Carrying the highest debt in G-5, the Rams lost paydays against CU, Oregon State and Vandy. Now they have a toxic coach. RIP, CSU (48%, 87 Votes)
  • This will be just the first of a number of schools facing allegations of improper/inadequate treatment of players. CSU has other issues here, but the Rams won't be the only program to have a tough go (47%, 85 Votes)
  • It doesn't matter. It's just a matter of time before CSU gets its Big 12 invitation, which will make all of its troubles go away (P.S., I'm a CSU troll) (5%, 10 Votes)

The Preseason USA Today/Coaches poll is out, with three teams from the Pac-12 ranked. Thoughts?
  • I would be excited about the preseason poll as a sign that the beginning of the season was imminent ... if I actually believed that a season was less than a month away from starting (I don't) (52%, 77 Votes)
  • About right. You'd expect to see Oregon, USC and Utah ranked (perhaps ASU replacing Utah), so the conference is right about where you'd expect it to be nationally (27%, 40 Votes)
  • Seven of CU's ten opponents received votes in the poll, which would be scary, until you realize the likes of Stanford (4-8), Nebraska (5-7) and Washington State (6-7) received votes. Yeesh! (21%, 31 Votes)

CU giving season ticket holders four options. If you are/were a season ticket holder, which would you choose?
  • Option 3 - Opt-Out, and apply the payment for season tickets towards season tickets for the 2021 season (51%, 91 Votes)
  • Option 1 - Opt-In for the 2020 season (noting restrictions on crowd size; little or no tailgating/concessions, etc.) (23%, 42 Votes)
  • Option 4 - Opt-Out, and receive a full refund (16%, 29 Votes)
  • Option 2 - Opt-Out, and leave the payment for season tickets as a tax-deductible donation to the CU scholarship fund (10%, 17 Votes)

The most interesting news story on a busy day for college football ...
  • That there is a chance, with the Oregon home-and-home being flipped for the 2020/21 seasons, that CU will have eight home games next year (still seven even if the A&M game is moved to Denver) (41%, 83 Votes)
  • That there are allegations that CSU coaches are covering up COVID reports. The Rams were already on a "pause", but it sounds as if the coaches are being accused of trying to ignore an outbreak (31%, 63 Votes)
  • That Colorado high school football will be played in the spring. Not that CU has many in-state recruits for the Class of 2021, but we'll see which players opt out of their senior years (24%, 48 Votes)
  • That the Big 12 will play a ten-game schedule with one non-conference game. After all of the bluster about playing August 29th, the Big 12 has fallen in line with everyone else (4%, 7 Votes)

CU picks up a quarterback commitment from three-star dual-threat QB Drew Carter. Thoughts?
  • With the lack of depth at the position, I'm just excited to have a quarterback recruit in the fold (oh, and getting a commitment from the nation's No. 1 kicker doesn't hurt, either) (54%, 158 Votes)
  • A four-year starter at QB in high school, with enough athletic talent to be recruited by Tad Boyle to play for the men's basketball team? Very excited about this recruit! (24%, 72 Votes)
  • Umm ... He's from Portland, but didn't have any other Power Five offers. Fingers crossed, but this sounds like a high-level Mountain West quarterback prospect to me (22%, 64 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
