Which of the following stats about senior quarterback Sam Noyer gives you the most pause?
  • That Noyer's most extensive action was a blowout loss to Washington State, completing 7-of-18 passes for 53 yards ... and that was three years ago (57%, 98 Votes)
  • That Noyer had seemingly found himself a home in a position of need (at safety), but still left his team of four years with the idea of transferring to another school (27%, 46 Votes)
  • When Noyer was recruited by CU, he had a grand total of three scholarship offers ... One from a Power-Five school (CU), one from a G-5 school (Wyoming) and one from an FCS school (Eastern Washington) (16%, 29 Votes)

Head coach Karl Dorrell names senior Sam Noyer as the starting quarterback. Thoughts?
  • As they say, you have to trust the guys in the room. OC Darrin Chiaverini has his future on the line with this choice, so I'm trusting that the coaches feel Noyer gives CU the best chance at victory (67%, 182 Votes)
  • Not a fan. It feels like the coaching staff is not looking at this season as a season which counts. Start Noyer, plug in Lytle here and there ... doesn't sound like a plan for winning Pac-12 games (21%, 57 Votes)
  • I like it. Noyer is a senior, has collegiate experience both at quarterback and at safety, so he understands the game on both sides of the ball. Congratulations, Sam! (12%, 33 Votes)

Washington, Utah and Washington State have QB battles, but are not announcing their starters. Should CU have followed suit?
  • I don't care one way or another ... as long as the decision is made this week. The No. 1 QB needs to get as many reps as possible in this shortened run up to the season (67%, 138 Votes)
  • Yes. As Herm Edwards says, "You're playing to win the game". Any advantage, even a slight one, should be taken. Keeping the first game opponent guessing makes sense (21%, 43 Votes)
  • No. This is simple gamesmanship. The UCLA coaches have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Buffs in Game One (running game, short passes), no matter who is QB. Go ahead and announce (12%, 26 Votes)

The Wisconsin/Nebraska game has been canceled due to positive tests on the Badger roster (and coaches). Thoughts?
  • I'm just sorry that we won't get to hear Scott Frost try and explain how his team managed to lose, at home, to a fourth-string Wisconsin quarterback (50%, 134 Votes)
  • This really shouldn't surprise anyone. Every conference which has started play has had games canceled or postponed ... it will happen with the Pac-12 as well (33%, 88 Votes)
  • Just a reminder of how short-sighted the Big Ten - and Pac-12 - were in setting up their season. By starting so late, there are no options for re-scheduling, which is a shame for the players and fans (17%, 44 Votes)

Start Date: October 28, 2020 @ 5:58 pm

Which of the following Karl Dorrell quotes from Tuesday's practice has you the most excited about the UCLA game?
  • On the starting offensive line: "Those guys have been working really, really well together. That’s really the group we’re looking at right now" (55%, 109 Votes)
  • On playing freshmen without losing a year of eligibility: "It is an opportune time to get the depth of your program a chance to get some game reps and build off that for their future" (38%, 75 Votes)
  • On preparing for UCLA: “We’re still working on tailoring our offense and defense to our people. In doing that, we’re still making the (game prep) introductions" (7%, 13 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
