CU listed as a 20:1 shot to win the Pac-12 championship. Thoughts?
  • I'm just glad to see CU is getting a little more respect in terms of the conference. Not too far removed from Utah and UCLA, and well ahead of Arizona. That's progress (41%, 58 Votes)
  • About right. CU has plenty of players back, but football titles are won by teams with superior quarterbacks. CU has several good quarterbacks, but none proven to be superior (36%, 51 Votes)
  • Take the bet! Not saying that CU should be the favorite to win the conference, but those are great odds for a team which has as good a shot as any in the South division to get to the title game (23%, 34 Votes)

College Football News sets the over/under on CU wins at 5.5. Thoughts?
  • Doesn't matter. CU will continue to receive no national respect until it earns it on the field. Beat USC ... or Oregon ... or Texas A&M - then the pundits will pay attention and predict wins (55%, 99 Votes)
  • About right, actually. If you look at CU's schedule, it's actually pretty hard to find a clear way to six wins and bowl eligibility (36%, 66 Votes)
  • For a team which went 4-2 with no spring practices and a new coaching staff ... and has almost everyone back? Two low. Not unexpected from the national media, but too low nonetheless (9%, 16 Votes)

CU is currently in the process of selling Texas A&M tickets to season ticket holders. What are your current plans for the September 11th game?
  • Not going to go ... 1) too expensive; 2) too far away; 3) have other plans; and/or 4) I hate going to CU games in Denver (43%, 85 Votes)
  • I'll be there! Hopefully, there will be plenty of black-and-gold to offset the maroon-clad hordes which will inevitably descend upon Mile High (33%, 65 Votes)
  • Still undecided. We'll see how many fans will be allowed into the stadium (sounds like a full house is a possibility), but I'm haven't gotten that far out on my plans for the fall (24%, 46 Votes)

CBS Sports ranks the Power Five conference coaches, with CU's Karl Dorrell in at No. 54. Thoughts?
  • Hopefully, after another winning season and another bowl appearance, he will win over the national media. Here's to keeping a chip on Dorrell's (and the players') shoulders! (62%, 159 Votes)
  • Ridiculously low. No. 47 Scott Frost (12-20 in three years at Nebraska) and No. 39 Chip Kelly (10-21 in three years at UCLA) are still ranked above Dorrell? Results on the field don't matter? (25%, 63 Votes)
  • About right, actually. The "high floor but limited ceiling" comment stings a little bit, but remains true until proven different (13%, 35 Votes)

Which news story of the day to you was the most "eyebrow raising"?
  • That Oregon projects a deficit of "only" $55 million this fiscal year (CU's projections are around $20 million). Was Uncle Phil out of town when they were balancing the books? (35%, 58 Votes)
  • That CU Chancellor Phil DiStefano said: “I’m confident we’re going to have fans in the stadium this fall". From his lips to the ears of Boulder County Health - I can't wait to get back to Folsom! (34%, 56 Votes)
  • That Stanford rescinded its plan to eliminate 11 sports. Goes to show what (common sense or public pressure - depending on your political bent) can do (31%, 50 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
