Will Kansas City Offensive Coordinator and former Buff star Eric Bieniemy be hired as an NFL head coach this offseason?
  • Not sure. Bieniemy will certainly get interviews because of the Rooney Rule (teams required to interview minority candidates), but there doesn't seem to be much buzz about his hiring. We'll see ... (53%, 158 Votes)
  • No. I don't know if its Bieniemy's failure as an OC at CU, that he is a "bad interview", or just doesn't have the right personality to be a head coach, but I don't see it happening (30%, 90 Votes)
  • Yes. Bieniemy has paid his dues, and has had a hand in the putting together a creative and record-setting offense. CBS has Bieniemy going to MIami, and I can see that happening (17%, 52 Votes)

Three more Buffs - punter Josh Watts, safety Chris Miller, and wide receiver DiMitri Stanley - enter the Transfer Portal. Thoughts?
  • If it weren't for bad news, CU wouldn't get any news at all. When will the bleeding stop? Will CU be posting a JV team next fall? It's starting to sound like it (with a record like 2-10) (36%, 129 Votes)
  • Not really surprised. Watts (senior being replaced), Miller (often injured) and Stanley (never happy in Boulder) are not bad losses. CU making room for transfers - let's see who they get (34%, 122 Votes)
  • Just glad to see that the coaching staff is finally in place (Welcome, coach McGeoghan!). Coach Dorrell wants to build a culture with his coaches and players. At least the coaches are in place (30%, 108 Votes)

CU Athletic Director Rick George: "We have some positive changes we will be announcing this week and we are looking forward to supporting our student athletes!"
  • The path to the 85-man roster in August is a marathon, not a sprint. Let's see what CU and its boosters come up with before we celebrate or complain. Fingers crossed (53%, 146 Votes)
  • Really?? CU's top starters are gone; the rest of the Pac-12 has loaded up on better players, and CU is just now getting around to getting something going? Disappointed, to say the least (38%, 104 Votes)
  • Good news! CU (and its fan base) are well behind the curve when it comes to NIL and getting recruits and transfers interested in CU (not to mention keeping stars). Can't wait for more info (9%, 23 Votes)

Updated CU Roster posted, with the Buffs over the 85-scholarship limit. Thoughts?
  • Not as bad as I thought, actually. Even with the defections, CU has 13 returning starters, with some decent depth. These are your guys ... Time to coach 'em up, Dorrell & Co. (38%, 105 Votes)
  • I'm just amazed that CU is one over the 85-man limit. Why is Dorrell using a scholarship on a project OL when there are so many units which need immediate help? I don't get CU's roster strategy (37%, 104 Votes)
  • Yikes. With six starters leaving, the lack of experienced talent at running back and in the secondary are glaring. I hate to be blunt, but I can't see this lineup being competitive in 2022 (25%, 70 Votes)

What about the CU offseason has you most concerned about the upcoming season?
  • The defection of a half dozen starters. The Buffs were 4-8 with these star players (not to mention Landman, Wells and Johnson). What record will CU produce without them? (35%, 105 Votes)
  • That there are no CU boosters (Buff Club? C-Club? Buffs4Life?) taking the lead to create NIL funds to compete for players. Complaining about the system doesn't help; CU (and its fans) need to step up (35%, 105 Votes)
  • That CU - in Year Three of the Karl Dorrell era - still isn't competing for top talent on the Recruiting trail. Arizona - 1-10 Arizona - has a Top 25 recruiting Class. Why can't CU? (30%, 88 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
