CU's "Quarterback Comfort Ranking" rated lowest in the Pac-12. Thoughts?
  • Nothing to see here. It's February, and spring ball is designed to give players to show they deserve a chance to play. Ask again at the end of spring ball ... hopefully there will be some clarity (51%, 123 Votes)
  • A fair assessment. No guarantee of who will be CU's quarterback next fall. Lewis has been inconsistent, and none of his challengers have a resume which includes significant time at this level (41%, 100 Votes)
  • Just another condemnation article from Jon Wilner at the San Jose Mercury News. The next article Wilner writes which praises CU will be the first (8%, 18 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from new offensive line coach Kyle DeVan gives you the most optimism?
  • “Everybody’s gonna start over with a clean slate. I know they’ve been through a lot. I’m understanding of that and want all those guys to understand that they’re going to get a fresh start" (44%, 73 Votes)
  • “I didn’t have the easy way (as a player). What it showed me is my passion for the game. And it showed me that, you know what, I’m going to do anything to be the best that I can be" (28%, 47 Votes)
  • "We really didn’t talk about football (initially). We talked about life, and we talked about goals. I think that’s important. I want them to know that I’m invested in them as a person" (28%, 47 Votes)

Gray-shirt running back Anthony Hankerson on call in case any roster running backs are injured or leave via the Transfer Portal. Thoughts?
  • I'm still trying to figure out how Hankerson ran for over 1,000 yards for a three-time state championship team in Florida, and was still open to a gray-shirt. Grades? Other issues? (67%, 163 Votes)
  • Like it. This will probably be the way of the world going forward, with schools banking insurance policy recruits in case more players leave. I just hope Hankerson sticks with the Buffs (26%, 63 Votes)
  • It sounds to me like the CU coaching staff is anticipating further defections from the running back room. Clayton, Broussard and Davis have already left the program ... I wonder who's next? (7%, 19 Votes)

What do you like best about graduate transfer offensive lineman Tommy Brown?
  • That he has played both guard and tackle, giving CU some flexibility. The offensive line is an area of concern, so having a possible starter with experience at multiple positions is a plus (65%, 153 Votes)
  • That he went 47-7 at Mater Dei in high school and 50-5 at Alabama - He's seen what winning programs look like, and can bring that winning attitude to Boulder (19%, 44 Votes)
  • That he has not been worn down while at Alabama (29 games in four years). He has two years of eligibility left, and will be well motivated with a starting spot in the offing (16%, 39 Votes)

CU athletic director Rick George on NIL: "We're going to do it the right way - the CU way". Thoughts?
  • My only hope is that this will all calm down in a year or two, and CU will be seen as an NCAA leader in the field, and that will play well with transfers and recruits ... a vain hope, but a hope (54%, 99 Votes)
  • Industry source: "Everyone is finally going all-in. All the ADs, all the coaches are going, ‘Holy crap, this is it' ... except at CU, which again is left behind (33%, 60 Votes)
  • I'm on board. Other schools can ignore guidelines and common sense restrictions, but I'm glad to see that CU is still trying to play by the rules and avoid inducements and other pay-for-play deals (13%, 23 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
