In today's environment, can Colorado field a team which can compete for championships?
  • Sad to say, but the answer is "no". There just aren't the dollars in the CU budget - or the CU fan base - to hire (and retain) quality coaches and "pay" its players through NIL deals (40%, 137 Votes)
  • It's possible, but hard to see. There needs to be a sea change, both in the attitude of the fan base and the University, to make football a priority. I'm not seeing it now, but there's always hope! (40%, 136 Votes)
  • Yes, CU can become a championship contender. All it takes is the will of the leadership at CU - from the President on down - to make it happen. If Utah can go to the Rose Bowl, so can CU - 'nuff said (20%, 67 Votes)

CU losing cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin to Oregon. Thoughts?
  • Another episode in the "CU can't have nice things" saga. If CU is lucky enough to find/develop something good, another program with more money will just come and take them away. Sigh (57%, 188 Votes)
  • A good coach and a good recruiter. It's bad enough losing a good coach, but when a program is struggling, you hope for some continuity. Good luck, Demetrice, and thanks for your efforts! (32%, 105 Votes)
  • Let me get this straight: When no one wants CU coaches, it's because they're terrible. If other teams do want CU coaches, the world is coming to an end - Either way, CU fans get upset (11%, 39 Votes)

Thoughts on CU's last minute cancellation of the basketball game against No. 7 Kansas ...
  • I'm just wondering how much CU will lose financially on this game. It would have been a sellout, with a number of KU fans who will want a refund instead of tickets to other games. Tough break for CU (41%, 62 Votes)
  • Tough for the players. Tad Boyle has been out-spoken about transparency and testing. I just hope the Buffs will be able to move on and be able to play a full Pac-12 schedule (36%, 55 Votes)
  • The players would have loved the opportunity to play, but the quiet reality is that this was a break for the program. The Jayhawks would have beaten the Buffs handily - not a good look (23%, 36 Votes)

CU picks up a commitment from the Transfer Portal - Houston freshman quarterback Maddox Kopp. Thoughts?
  • I just hope that this means that the Dorrell staff is stepping up its Transfer Portal game, and will be moving on to offensive and defensive line recruits next (and perhaps a safety and inside LB) (57%, 200 Votes)
  • Great news! Kopp was recruited by CU, so the parties were familiar with one another. Kopp threw for 3,100 yards, with 30 touchdowns (and only four interceptions) as a senior. Welcome, Mr. Kopp! (27%, 95 Votes)
  • Not to be a downer, but Kopp is another three-star quarterback with only one other Power Five offer out of high school (Ole Miss). Sounds like just another mediocre QB. (Um, we already have those) (16%, 56 Votes)

CU taking on No. 7 Kansas (Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., MT, ESPN2). Thoughts?
  • I'm glad that Jabari Walker has been cleared to play, and hopeful that the CEC will be predominantly black-and-gold. Not expecting a win, but I am expecting the Buffs to keep it close (56%, 142 Votes)
  • Hate to say it, but I'm not expecting a good game. CU has struggled with average teams, and the young Buffs (with a large Kansas fan presence) are probably going to be routed (37%, 95 Votes)
  • The last time Kansas invaded the CEC, Askia Booker swished a 30-footer for a 75-72 win. Kansas is good, but not great. Another CU upset! (7%, 18 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
