Athlon on CU: "Outside expectations are low, but with a rebuilt staff and young talent, there is a quiet confidence". Thoughts?
- I just hope that there is more than a little grain of truth in the quote. Buff fans need to have something to hang their hats on over this long off-season (64%, 82 Votes)
- I can definitely see it. National pundits only saw the Transfer Portal defections and the schedules and drew their conclusions. Folks in the Champions Center know different (23%, 30 Votes)
- Preseason magazines try and find SOMETHING good to say about each team. If when praising the Buffs, the quote comes with a qualifier. The next publication to predict a winning season will be the first (13%, 16 Votes)

CU wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan promoted to assistant head coach. Thoughts?
- Does this mean that some other team (with more cash?) was already after McGeoghan? If so, this might have been a good preemptive move. I hope that the recognition (and extra $$) will keep him at CU (57%, 82 Votes)
- I like it. A popular coach with his players, and one of CU's best recruiters, it's good to see Karl Dorrell and CU recognizing Coach Phil's contributions (37%, 53 Votes)
- Seems like a good coach, but he has yet to coach a game at Folsom. Shouldn't cash-strapped CU look to see results on the field before handing out rewards? (6%, 8 Votes)

CU picks up two commitments in the past 24 hours - a speedy cornerback and a large offensive lineman. Thoughts?
- Speed and size - what the Buffs need. Taylor Starling is a track star (10.49 in the 100); and Drew Perez is huge (6'8", 330). Welcome, Texans, to the Black and Gold! (47%, 78 Votes)
- Starling is fast, and Perez is large. I just hope that Perez is not a replacement for Naquil Betrand, who committed in March, but has since blown up ... and is sniffing around for a better deal (37%, 62 Votes)
- Let me get this straight. It's June, and CU has managed to pick up two commitments from Texas who were not rated by either Rivals or 247 Sports? Another banner day for the Buffs! (16%, 27 Votes)

CU's Karl Dorrell the 9th-highest paid head coach in the Pac-12 (at $3.6 million for 2022). Thoughts?
- Probably about right. Dorrell's contract is in line with that of Herm Edwards at ASU and Jonathan Smith at Oregon State. Produce more wins ... and get paid more (75%, 120 Votes)
- You get what you pay for. If Dorrell is 9th in pay, then it's reasonable to expect that CU won't be better than 9th in the standings. Here's hoping CU is willing to pay premium for the next coach (16%, 26 Votes)
- Too high for the results on the field. Dorrell's contract is ahead of Arizona's Jedd Fisch and two new head coaches. Based on preseason predictions, Dorrell should be 12th in the conference in pay (9%, 13 Votes)

West Virginia transfer linebacker Josh Chandler-Semedo named as one of the Top Five linebackers in the nation. Thoughts?
- Nice to have some good press, but the team still needs to produce. Ask me in October if Chandler-Semedo has made me forget all about Nate Landman (48%, 87 Votes)
- Perhaps when Karl Dorrell said he was confident the new transfers were as good as the ones who left, he wasn't just engaged in coach-speak. Nice news to hear in June (35%, 63 Votes)
- Well, the source is On3 Sports. I'm not sure they are a better judge of talent than Athlon, Lindy's, Phil Steele, etc,, but it's nice to have someone think CU has a first-team All-Pac-12 player (17%, 32 Votes)

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.
SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.
The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!
‘SkoBuffs!! Drub the Nubs.
Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.
Did Coach Hagan just let the cat out of the bag regarding Colorado’s starting QB?
Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
