What would you consider to be the most encouraging outcome of the 2002 CU Spring Showcase?
  • That there were few if any significant injuries during the spring game, or during the spring. CU will need all hands all deck this fall, so not losing anyone for the season is a plus (59%, 118 Votes)
  • That Brendon Lewis looked more comfortable at quarterback, and with Shrout and Kopp as contenders for playing time, CU may finally have a quality QB room (29%, 58 Votes)
  • That the defense basically controlled the scrimmage, even without several starters in the lineup. That bodes well for better defense in 2022 (12%, 25 Votes)

What are you looking for (hoping to see) most out of the CU Spring Showcase?
  • Quality play along the lines. The offensive line last year was terrible, and the defensive line was decimated. CU has new coaches along both lines - I'd like to see progress (58%, 99 Votes)
  • Quality quarterback play from sophomore Brendon Lewis. If CU is to have any chance of a winning season in 2022, it will start with quality play from the quarterbacks (39%, 66 Votes)
  • Quality play from the defensive backfield. CU lost three starting defensive backs. If opposing teams can pick apart the secondary, it's going to be a long year (3%, 6 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from offensive coordinator Mike Sanford gives you the most confidence about the Buffs going forward?
  • “Brendon Lewis is playing at a really high level right now ... He’s making really good, fast decisions, which was clearly a growth area for him coming off the 2021 season" (65%, 102 Votes)
  • "This staff offers a variety of experiences, a variety of systematic approaches ... We’ve had a lot of fun putting it together and doing it in a way where everybody’s got some skin in the game" (26%, 41 Votes)
  • “I think the area that I’m really, really pleased with has been the receiver growth ... We’ve got a wideout group here and they’re being coached" (9%, 15 Votes)

CU's commitment No. 10 comes from three-star wide receiver Isaiah Hardge. Thoughts?
  • Now this is more like it! Multiple offers from the SEC, ACC and Big Ten. Well done, coach McGeohan, for this quality commit! (69%, 163 Votes)
  • An early recruit from the state of Florida, with multiple offers? Hate to be contrarian, but is very CU fan-like to already be worried that CU will lose this recruit before Signing Day? (22%, 52 Votes)
  • I definitely like this recruit, but I'm still wondering why CU is loading up on freshmen, while the rest of the country is loading up on former starters in the Transfer Portal (9%, 20 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from offensive coordinator Mike Sanford do you find to be the most encouraging?
  • "Through the first three (spring) practices, the wide receivers caught 29 balls, the tight ends caught 25 balls, the running backs caught like 20 ... This is how we're built" (55%, 106 Votes)
  • "The great thing about what we're doing schematically is we're not going to pigeon-hole ourselves ... There's going to be multiplicity and the offense is going to be malleable" (29%, 57 Votes)
  • "The room, we have a lot of fun. You know in a room of coaches when it feels right ... We are working together as one and it comes across through the players" (16%, 31 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
