Nick Saban on the current state of college football: “I don’t think what we’re doing right now is a sustainable model”
- Nice of the Alabama coach to acknowledge the problem. If the schools which benefit the most from a world of unrestricted NIL and a Transfer Portal akin to free agency are worried, it's real (51%, 92 Votes)
- If Saban admits unrestricted NIL "creates a situation where you can basically buy players", does that mean he will step up and not allow it to happen at UA? I'm betting "no" (30%, 54 Votes)
- I wouldn't mind the new world of NIL and the Transfer Portal ... if my school was a participant. Unfortunately, CU and its boosters have chosen to stay on the sidelines (and get left behind) (19%, 35 Votes)

CU receives commitments from two Texans, running back AJ Newberry and defensive back Adrian Wilson. Thoughts?
- I guess we'll see how this works out, but, in the age of the Transfer Portal, should CU be using its 85 scholarships on flyers? My vote would be "no". Still waiting for some exciting roster news (44%, 89 Votes)
- Both players seem like quality additions, and are both coming to CU in positions of need. This coaching staff seems to know what they like, so I'm in on these Texans (33%, 66 Votes)
- Two Power Five offers out of two commits? Two players not yet even rated by 247 Sports? Stop me when the mediocrity stops, and CU gets recruiters who get that you can't win without quality talent (23%, 47 Votes)

Would you agree with Pat Rooney assessment that Year Three of the Karl Dorrell era feels a great deal like Year One?
- That's probably a pretty fair way to look at CU right now. With half of the coaching staff replaced, and over two dozen players lost to the Transfer Portal, it feels like CU is starting over (50%, 111 Votes)
- To be determined ... but it is fair to say that if the 2022 season unfolds like a start over season, Karl Dorrell probably shouldn't get a chance for a Year Two in Year Four (30%, 68 Votes)
- There have been new coaches hired, and some players (who didn't buy in) playing elsewhere, but this team has taken steps forward, and is not starting over (20%, 44 Votes)

Which post-scrimmage Karl Dorrell quote to you was the most telling?
- "We didn't want to show too much given it was a public scrimmage. But we did what we wanted to do today in terms of seeing our base-level schemes". In other words: nothing to see here (46%, 56 Votes)
- "B-Lew looked good. He looked like he was in control of what was going on. I thought he made good decisions today". With Shrout limited, the starting quarterback job is truly Lewis' to lose (30%, 36 Votes)
- "I thought we did a good job of give and take with good competitiveness on both sides". As with every scrimmage, every good play on one side of the ball means a poor play on the other (24%, 29 Votes)

Is it worth it to make note of how some of the Buff players are faring in spring scrimmages?
- All I know is that this is the first time Buff fans have been allowed to see their team in action since November. Any info for the starved fan base is welcome! (45%, 65 Votes)
- No. It's all just window dressing, and Dorrell (and other paranoid coaches across the country) aren't going to tip their hands on anything. Nothing to see here (31%, 44 Votes)
- Yes. Even keeping everything vanilla, the coaches have to give fans at least a glimpse of what's in store for the fall, and which players are doing the best jobs in executing those schemes (24%, 34 Votes)

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.
SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.
The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!
‘SkoBuffs!! Drub the Nubs.
Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.
Did Coach Hagan just let the cat out of the bag regarding Colorado’s starting QB?
Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
