Which CU spring roster move to you was the most surprising/eye brow raising?
  • That Mac Willis, former walk-on kicker, is now Mac Willis, walk-on cornerback. Nice to see he is that athletic ... or does it mean that CU is desperate at the cornerback position? (50%, 102 Votes)
  • That linebacker Jack Lamb has medically retired. Lamb has had injury issues before, but it's too bad that he won't make it back onto the field. Glad to see CU will honor his scholarship (29%, 58 Votes)
  • That Oakie Salave'a may well get his shot at quarterback. While CU can count all of its safeties on one hand, it's a wonder that Salave'a is spending much (if not all) of his spring on offense (21%, 43 Votes)

CU releases its spring schedule, with one scrimmage and the "Spring Showcase" open to the public. Thoughts?
  • I understand not having the practices open to the public, but both scrimmages should be open. Good for the players to have fans in attendance; good for the public to get to see their Buffs (56%, 83 Votes)
  • Nothing to see here ... Even the Spring Game (pardon me, "Spring Showcase") generates next to no interest, so why bother having scrimmages and practices open to the public? (22%, 33 Votes)
  • Nothing to see here - literally. Once again, CU doesn't get that closed practices generate zero interest from the public, something CU can't afford (witness fewer season ticket renewals) (22%, 32 Votes)

Which of Neill Woelk's Spring storylines do you think is the most important for the Dorrell coaching staff to answer:
  • Rebuild the offensive line - Arguably one of the worst in the Power Five, this is major rebuild, and the work begins this week (46%, 102 Votes)
  • Establish an offensive identity - Mike Sanford is the new offensive coordinator, and with the CU offense in the 100's in most offensive categories, this is job one (40%, 88 Votes)
  • Resume the quarterback battle - Will Brendon Lewis shut the door on the competition, or will the battle continue on to the fall? (8%, 18 Votes)
  • Replace key departures on defense - It's not just Landman and Wells, it's 3/4 of the starting secondary. The Buffs need to identify new starters - and quickly (5%, 12 Votes)
  • Identify a new lead running back - Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year Jarek Broussard is gone, as is Ashaad Clayton. Is 2019 leading rusher Alex Fontenot the answer? (1%, 0 Votes)

Colorado opens spring practices this week. What is your level of excitement for spring ball, 2022?
  • Low. I don't know if it's the lack of success in the past, or the lack of prospects for this season, but I'm not real excited about spring ball this year (42%, 84 Votes)
  • Medium. It will be good to have some real football to talk about, though spring practices don't really move the meter that much. Still, good to see Buffs in pads again (36%, 73 Votes)
  • High. No faster way to get the 2021 season (and off-season) behind this team than to put on pads and get a fresh start on getting ready for this fall (22%, 44 Votes)

How would you rate your level of concern over the linebacker corps heading into spring practices?
  • Medium. There is talent in the linebacker corps, but I'm not sure it's enough to make up for the deficiencies along the defensive line and the holes in the secondary (53%, 75 Votes)
  • High. Two NFL linebackers, Nate Landman and Carson Wells, are gone, and there isn't a great deal of proven talent behind them (25%, 36 Votes)
  • Low. The Buffs have a good mix of young talent and transfer experience. I believe this is one of the strongest units on the team (22%, 31 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
