What do you make of the 2022-23 CU men's basketball season to date (16-9, 7-7)?
  • It's cause for concern heading into the final month of the season, but, if the team can stay healthy, there is still a chance at an NCAA tournament bid (and even a win or two once there) (67%, 4 Votes)
  • It's a reflection of how spoiled CU fans have become. Tad Boyle owns nine of CU's 13 all-time 20-win seasons (soon to be 10-of-14). Better the devil you know (17%, 1 Votes)
  • It's an indictment of Coach Boyle and his inability to produce anything more than mediocre teams. Three potential NBA Draft picks ... and another year in the NIT (16%, 1 Votes)

Coach Prime introducing a "Prime Weekend" for CU's Spring Game. Thoughts?
  • If Coach Prime finds a way to generate more alumni involvement, get another large crowd for the game, more donations to the athletic department and more attention from recruits ... sounds good to me (74%, 127 Votes)
  • An entire weekend including a game showcase, featuring various activities and attractions? Way to think outside the box, Coach Prime! Sounds like a great idea (16%, 27 Votes)
  • I don't want to sound like a wet blanket, but isn't it about time for Coach Prime to focus on how to win games, instead of finding new ways to get attention? Color me disappointed (10%, 18 Votes)

Shedeur Sanders rated as the No. 5 quarterback in the nation for the 2024 season. Thoughts?
  • About right. When considering the four above him - Carson Beck (Georgia); Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss); Quinn Ewers (Texas); and Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), No. 5 is about right (56%, 135 Votes)
  • Too low. Folks don't seem to get it, but this season is going to be all about getting Shedeur ready for the draft. I can't wait to see CU's offense this fall! Shedeur will be a Top 5 draft pick (35%, 85 Votes)
  • Too high. If we're being honest here, there are plenty of quarterbacks who will have a much better supporting cast (read: Offensive line), and will post better numbers (read: wins) (9%, 22 Votes)

The Athletic: Coach Prime's coaching staff a net downgrade from last season. Thoughts?
  • I'm willing to give Coach Prime the benefit of the doubt, at least for now ... But I can see how an outside would look at this roster of coaches and wonder about the direction of the program (59%, 154 Votes)
  • Did anyone at The Athletic check out CU's numbers under Lewis and Kelly? CU was 80th in total offense and 127th in total defense last season. Change was required (27%, 71 Votes)
  • Sad, but true. Sean Lewis was a head coach, and Charles Kelly came from the Nick Saban tree. Now ... Pat Shurmur and Robert Livingston? Definitely a downgrade (14%, 37 Votes)

CU basketball teams lose at home, with the men losing (again) to Arizona and the women losing (again) to Oregon State. Which loss is more problematic?
  • The men losing to No. 8 Arizona at home. The Buffs are short on quality wins, and could have taken themselves off of the Bubble with a win. Now ... March Madness is slipping away (62%, 121 Votes)
  • Neither are problematic, at least right now. It's still the second week of February. What matters most is how the teams are playing in March. There is still time to right these ships - and they can (22%, 43 Votes)
  • The women losing to No. 17 Oregon State. The Buffs have only four losses on the season, with two to the Beavers. The next three games are on the road - all against ranked teams. Not a good send off (16%, 30 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
