ESPN has Shedeur Sanders as the No. 8 Quarterback in the nation (No. 3 in the Big 12). Thoughts?
  • Depends on the criteria. If you are talking about sheer talent, or NFL draft-ability, Shedeur is your guy. If you are talking about leading teams to wins ... Shedeur remains a To-Be-Determined (59%, 121 Votes)
  • Too low. Jaylon Daniels (Kansas) and Noah Fifita (Arizona) had nine- and ten-win seasons last year, but they had better supporting casts. Anyone really want to take either of those two over Shedeur? (33%, 67 Votes)
  • Too high. Every other quarterback in the Top Ten list plays for teams with winning records (most with double-digit wins on their resumes). Shedeur has some work to do to make this list (8%, 18 Votes)

Which college football playoff model to you would be the best for your Buffs?
  • A 16-team playoff. We all know we are going to get there eventually, so let's just push it out to 16 and be done with it. Start the season in mid-August, and have two rounds at home sites (45%, 61 Votes)
  • The 12-team 5-7 model which will be in place for the next two seasons. The Big 12 champ is in, with seven spots open for a Buff run to the playoffs with a 10-2 record (and a national following) (31%, 42 Votes)
  • A 20-team playoff. It worked well for the FCS for years. The the top 12 teams get byes, with eight teams playing in to get to the Sweet Sixteen. May have to give up a regular season game, but worth it (13%, 18 Votes)
  • A 14-team playoff, but only if the 3-3-2-2-1 model is scraped. Have the Power Four and best G-5 get in, with the CU and everyone else getting a shot at one of nine open wild-card openings (11%, 14 Votes)

Is the 3-3-2-2-1 model for a 14-team playoff a good deal for the Big 12 and Colorado?
  • No. Any model which permanently establishes that the Big Ten and SEC are superior to the other two Power Four conferences establishes a bias, both real and imagined, against parity (62%, 94 Votes)
  • I'm still trying to figure out why the powers that be didn't even try the 12-team playoff model before expanding. Okay, so it's all about the money, but this is all moving too quickly (23%, 34 Votes)
  • Yes. The Big 12 would have two guaranteed spots in the College Football Playoff, with a shot at the three open spots. In prior years, the Big 12 would have only gotten one team in, so this is good (15%, 23 Votes)

Which of the following statements from the CBS Sports article about Coach Prime and the Buffs to you rings the most true?
  • "Without letting the hype train get too far off the rails, the 2024 schedule does set up well for Colorado to make it back to the postseason for the first time since 2020." (63%, 130 Votes)
  • "Though Colorado's defense drew a lot of deserved flak last season, the Buffaloes actually looked a lot better than they did in the year before Sanders' arrival" (33%, 68 Votes)
  • "Coach Prime doesn't necessarily need to make a bowl to show signs of progress, especially as the program embarks on a new journey in the Big 12" (4%, 8 Votes)

Which of the following concerns you the most about CU's 2024 offensive line prospects?
  • Cohesiveness. If there is one room where all of the players have to be on the same page, it's the offensive line. Constantly churning the roster is not a proven path to success (50%, 111 Votes)
  • Talent. Buff fans were sold on the idea of bringing in starters from other teams last year, with disastrous consequences. Slightly better resumes to the new transfers, but CU is still starting over (27%, 61 Votes)
  • Coaching. New offensive line coach Phil Loadholt has nine years of NFL experience, but zero years of experience as an offensive line coach. With so much at stake, was this the right choice? (23%, 50 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
