Former CU wide receiver K.D. Nixon announces that he is transferring to USC for his second senior season. Thoughts?
  • I hope that he is going to Los Angeles to continue his education in communications and theater ... because he is not going to get many touches as a Trojan (41%, 141 Votes)
  • Nixon gave his blood, sweat and tears to the program for four years, and finished in the top 25 in yards and catches. I wish him well (except against CU), and hope this gets him to the NFL (37%, 128 Votes)
  • Nixon received a full ride scholarship for four years in Boulder, and he repays the Buffs by defecting to a division rival. Not going to wish him ill, but I'm not going to wish him well (22%, 73 Votes)

The Pac-12 and Commissioner Larry Scott agree to part ways a year early (June 30, 2021). Thoughts?
  • It's about time. Scott has turned a Power Five conference into an afterthought. He can't be done soon enough. The long road back needs to start as soon as possible (54%, 171 Votes)
  • I just hope that the powers that be that select the new commissioner will not pick Rick George. The CU AD would do a great job for the Pac-12, but I'd sure be sad to lose him (37%, 118 Votes)
  • What's the old saying? Be careful what you ask for, as you will surely get it. Let's see who the next commissioner will be before doing too much celebrating (9%, 28 Votes)

Report: CU to hire Joe Bowden as the new inside linebackers coach. Thoughts?
  • A former teammate of (likely) new defensive coordinator Chris Wilson, Bowden certainly will be able to work with the new coaching staff, and has experience recruiting in Texas. Fingers crossed (65%, 195 Votes)
  • Love it ... An All-American at Oklahoma, eight years as a player in the NFL, coaching experience at both the NFL and collegiate ranks ... What's not to like? (25%, 75 Votes)
  • Okay, so we're getting a coach who has been the defensive coordinator since 2017 ... at Division II Missouri Baptist. Let me guess - CU was his only new job offer. Color me disappointed. (10%, 32 Votes)

Report: CU losing tight end coach Taylor Embree, hired to coach running backs for the New York Jets. Thoughts?
  • As with the defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning positions, I would prefer to withhold judgment until we know who the replacements will be. Fingers crossed for quality new coaches (52%, 169 Votes)
  • Sorry to hear about it, and the timing is not great. CU needs some continuity in the program, and Embree was a good young coach. Sorry to see him go (27%, 87 Votes)
  • Actually a positive for the program. If Karl Dorrell is having young coaches plucked by the NFL, it's a good sign of his ability to form a talented staff (21%, 66 Votes)

Another good day for the Buff Nation. Which news from Monday would you rate as the most impressive?
  • That Karl Dorrell was named the "First Year" Coach of the Year, joining a list which includes Steve Spurrier, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, Lincoln Riley, and Ryan Day (47%, 125 Votes)
  • That the CU men's basketball team entered the USA Today coaches poll. May not seem significant until you realize CU has been ranked in the coaches' poll a total of 32 times ... in school history (33%, 88 Votes)
  • That McKinley Wright earned his third Pac-12 Player of the Week this year - and fifth overall - the first player with five career POTW honors in the Pac-12 since 2010 (20%, 51 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
