Buffs scratch out an 82-79 win over Arizona. Thoughts?
  • A huge win. Yes, the Buffs again blew a big lead, but found a way to win anyway. Arizona is CU's nemesis, so every win over the Wildcats is one to be treasured. I hope the Buffs can build on this win (50%, 133 Votes)
  • Buffs are a tough team to love, but they are getting closer and closer to their first tournament bid since 2016. Hard on the blood pressure, but they're still my Buffs! (33%, 89 Votes)
  • Sound familiar? Buffs race out to a big early lead (in this case, 19-2) then blow it. Not a great formula for tournament success (17%, 45 Votes)

After a few days of bad news, Buff fans received some good news over the past few days. Which story has you most excited?
  • That CU picked up a commitment from the transfer portal, Notre Dame linebacker Jack Lamb, a former four-star recruit with an impressive offer sheet (57%, 149 Votes)
  • That CU picked up its first commitment from the Recruiting Class of 2022, OLB/S Dylan Dixson, who had offers from schools like Florida State, ASU, Virginia Tech and Iowa State (33%, 86 Votes)
  • That the CU coaching staff is now officially complete, with the promotion of Bryan Cook to tight ends coach, and the hiring of Mark Smith as inside linebackers coach (10%, 26 Votes)

CU receives a transfer portal commitment from a former four-star inside linebacker from Notre Dame, Jack Lamb. Thoughts?
  • A former four-star who had offers from Oklahoma, Oregon and Penn State in addition to Notre Dame? With three years of eligibility left? In a position of need? Love it! (43%, 143 Votes)
  • I'm just glad that CU got some good news after the disappointments of the week. Did the coaching staff have Lamb in mind when T.J. Patu and CU parted ways? (Perhaps panic wasn't the proper response) (33%, 111 Votes)
  • Well, he suffered a hip injury in 2019 which limited his play in 2020. Fingers crossed he'll be healthy (and fingers crossed that he makes it to CU. Nothing's final until he graduates this spring) (24%, 78 Votes)

CU Signing Day email: "At this time, we are not planning to sign any new recruits". Thoughts?
  • Word is that CU is saving some scholarships for transfer portal signees. I'm definitely concerned, but I'm withholding judgment until the final roster is set (50%, 183 Votes)
  • A real gut punch. DL Ike bails and signs with Michigan; QB Millen switches at the last minute to Nevada; long-time LB commit Patu de-commits. No way to spin this disaster (30%, 111 Votes)
  • Tough to lose three potential recruits at the last minute, but there are 17 quality recruits in the fold (plus two great transfers). I'm going to focus on what we have, not what we lost (20%, 70 Votes)

Report: CU hires from within, promoting Bryan Cook, director of quality control for defense, as the new tight ends coach. Thoughts?
  • Not too worried. The tight ends coach is not a crucial position (certainly not at CU the past decade). If Cook can recruit, and can hold his own in his room, I'll be happy (49%, 141 Votes)
  • Not excited. Hiring a position coach who has never coached the position before? Doesn't sound like a recipe for success. Seems like a real downgrade from Taylor Embree (38%, 110 Votes)
  • I like this hire. Cook has been in over coaching for over 20 years, and has plenty of experience. (Plus, he probably comes pretty cheap compared to an outside hire) (13%, 38 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
