ESPN's "future" Power Rankings has CU at No. 35 nationally (No. 8 in the Big 12). Thoughts?
- I actually think this is a pretty favorable ranking. Considering how the pundits have been skeptical of "Coach Prime - Phase II", it's nice to see that ESPN recognizes CU has a bright future (44%, 51 Votes)
- What struck me most about the list is that ESPN has only one Big 12 team in the Top 15; five in the bottom eight. That doesn't bode well for the future of the conference (36%, 42 Votes)
- I'm not sure how CU can be continuously be rated under the likes of Baylor, Utah, and Texas Tech. CU beat all three last season ... let's give some credit where credit is due (20%, 23 Votes)

ESPN reports that Coach Prime has been ill and out of the office with an "unspecified health issue". Thoughts?
- Not too worried - yet. This is the slowest time of year, so it makes sense Coach Prime would take care of health issues while he has the chance. Now, if this drags on in July ... (58%, 93 Votes)
- Troublesome. Especially with the report that Coach Prime cancelled a speaking engagement, and has been missing camps. A history of health issues gives cause for concern as well (26%, 41 Votes)
- Much ado about nothing. Deion Jr. says he's feeling well, and Christopher Neely says he's engaged and energetic. Nothing to see here on a slow news day. Move on (16%, 25 Votes)

Would you support CU exploring using private equity as a means of supplementing the athletic department budget?
- The devil is in the details. No one does anything for nothing, so in exchange for a nice check, what would CU be giving up now, and into the future? Would such a deal make sense in the long term? TBD (54%, 75 Votes)
- Yes. CU is going to need to shake every tree in order to find funds to compete with the big boys. Rick George says he is going to be "aggressive" - this would be aggressive (25%, 35 Votes)
- No. There are some lines you don't cross, and selling out your athletic department (and your soul?) to private equity firms is way over that line (21%, 30 Votes)

Are you surprised that Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark is a proponent of the 5+11 playoff model?
- Doesn't matter. Yormark can do all the lobbying and politicking he wants, but the Big Ten and SEC will decide what's best for them, everyone else be damned (79%, 82 Votes)
- No. "We want to earn it on the field of play" is not only a bold stance, but the correct one. The Big 12 shouldn't concede any extra playoff spots to anyone (12%, 12 Votes)
- Yes. If you review how the Big 12 would have fared with 11 selection spots in the past, it's not pretty. Not sure why Yormark would be advocating for, in essence, fewer playoff spots (9%, 10 Votes)

Is CU a "winner" or a "loser" when it comes to the House settlement, and the paying of athletes?
- "To be determined". If Coach Prime stays, and is successful, CU can compete financially for players, and remain relevant nationally. If Coach Prime leaves (or retires), all bets are off (77%, 115 Votes)
- A "loser", because CU isn't in one of the "Power Two" conferences. With the $20M extra Big Ten and SEC schools receive in media revenue, they can absorb paying players much more easily (13%, 19 Votes)
- A "winner", because CU is in a Power Four conference, and has been positioning itself to start paying its players. AD Rick George will keep the CU athletic department ahead of the curve (10%, 15 Votes)

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.
SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.
The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!
‘SkoBuffs!! Drub the Nubs.
Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.
Did Coach Hagan just let the cat out of the bag regarding Colorado’s starting QB?
Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
