Alabama and Clemson will (again) play for the national championship. Thoughts?
  • Don't like it. The number of teams who are competing for the title continues to dwindle. A lack of parity at the top of the game is not good for college football (48%, 173 Votes)
  • Fine with it ... These are the two best teams in football, and deserve to play for the title. The burden is on everyone else to catch up (39%, 142 Votes)
  • Not super interested. Until or unless Colorado is back in the national conversation, I'm not going to pay much attention (13%, 49 Votes)

CU men (9-3) and CU women (10-1) post good non-conference records. Will they translate into winning records in Pac-12 play?
  • Yes for women; no for men. Women have a complete team; Tad Boyle's squad has too many holes (42%, 79 Votes)
  • No for both. If recent history is a guide, both teams will struggle to get near .500 in Pac-12 play (39%, 74 Votes)
  • Yes for both. The CU women are much improved, and the men's league has many mediocre teams (16%, 31 Votes)
  • Yes for men; no for women. Men can handle most of the Pac-12; the women face a league with five ranked teams (3%, 5 Votes)

What is your prediction for the College Football Playoffs?
  • No. 1 Alabama over No. 4 Oklahoma; No. 2 Clemson over No. 3 Notre Dame (57%, 133 Votes)
  • No. 1 Alabama over No. 4 Oklahoma; No. 3 Notre Dame over No. 2 Clemson (20%, 47 Votes)
  • No. 4 Oklahoma over No. 1 Alabama; No. 2 Clemson over No. 3 Notre Dame (14%, 32 Votes)
  • No. 4 Oklahoma over No. 1 Alabama; No. 3 Notre Dame over No. 2 Clemson (9%, 21 Votes)

What is CU's greatest position of need to fill out the Recruiting Class of 2019?
  • Defensive back - preferably at safety. CU graduates its two starters, with no proven backups there to take their place (47%, 167 Votes)
  • Quarterback. CU hasn't gone without signing at least one quarterback in years - and shouldn't have a gap in the roster this year (19%, 67 Votes)
  • Running back - preferably another senior transfer, or a junior college prospect. The position remains suspect (17%, 60 Votes)
  • Defensive line. While the unit is improving, there remains a shocking lack of depth (13%, 45 Votes)
  • Linebacker - see above (4%, 18 Votes)

Start Date: December 27, 2018 @ 5:49 pm

Tad Boyle's contract calls for an automatic one-year extension on December 31st. Should Rick George opt out of the one-year extension?
  • No. Once again - as down as Buff fans feel the program has been, it is still vastly improved from what CU has had before ... for decades (50%, 162 Votes)
  • Yes, but not because Boyle needs to be canned. George just needs to send a message that continued mediocrity will not be tolerated (34%, 110 Votes)
  • Yes. It's time to acknowledge that Tad Boyle has reached his plateau. It's up to Rick George to cut the cord, and try and take the team to the next level (16%, 49 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
