CU announces that senior offensive lineman Aaron Haigler will not play his senior season
  • Haigler was the only junior captain last season, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here that if he was up to playing this year, he would. Thanks, Aaron for being a Buff! (56%, 208 Votes)
  • Not the best news, but not the end of the world. Haigler had issues throughout his career, and attrition is to be expected this time of year. Next man up! (31%, 115 Votes)
  • Bad news. For a team struggling along the offensive line, losing a senior with 27 career starts is a huge blow (13%, 47 Votes)

The best quote from freshman running back Joe Davis, an early enrollee:
  • "It's a tremendous honor to be able to come out here and play for my hometown team" (47%, 115 Votes)
  • "Even when I was little, I still ran with an attitude. That's the same attitude I carry now even though I've put on 30-40 pounds since then" (38%, 92 Votes)
  • "I can bring to the team some versatility. I think I'm an every down back" (15%, 38 Votes)

Only 10 Pac-12 players declare for the NFL draft, with Oregon and Utah benefiting from having stars return. Thoughts?
  • Not news. CU has enough to worry about internally without having any time to worry about how many star players are returning on the rosters of its opponents (80%, 197 Votes)
  • Good news. For CU to be the best, they have to beat the best, and the conference as a whole needs to shore up its talent base (13%, 33 Votes)
  • Bad news. For CU to recover and get over the hump, it would have helped to have some of the Pac-12's best players head off to the NFL early (7%, 15 Votes)

CU receives a commitment from JC linebacker Quinn Perry. Thoughts?
  • Like it. I'm glad that the coaching staff is trying to get players to help win in 2019, and not waiting to develop talent for 2021 (54%, 158 Votes)
  • Um ... Is anyone else noticing that the latest wave of recruits have one thing in common - no Power-Five conference offers? Color me concerned (34%, 98 Votes)
  • Love it! A quality player in a position of need. I am a big fan of how Tucker & Co. are filling in the roster (12%, 34 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
