All I want for Christmas (or, what I would prefer for Christmas for my Buffs) ...
  • Three assistant coaching vacancies filled by coaches who not only have quality coaching backgrounds, but who can recruit in California and Texas without having to refer to Google maps (54%, 152 Votes)
  • A Tad Boyle offense which doesn't turn the ball over 15-20 times a game, so that CU could be at least competitive in a down year for the Pac-12 (25%, 69 Votes)
  • A senior transfer or quality JC commit for the lines, at linebacker, and/or at safety, to shore up CU's chances in 2019 (21%, 60 Votes)

Spring practices won't start until mid-March, with the Spring Game moved to April 27th. Thoughts?
  • Not sure I care all that much. It does much sense to give Tucker & Co. more time to evaluate players before practices begin - at least for this spring (61%, 170 Votes)
  • Love it! CU finally lining up with the rest of the Pac-12, with a Spring Game - more likely - to be played in better weather (32%, 88 Votes)
  • Not a fan. I think MacIntyre - early practices giving injured more time to heal before fall; more time to study for spring finals - was on to something (7%, 20 Votes)

The quirky stat about the Recruiting Class of 2019 which I find most surprising:
  • That CU doesn't have a recruit in the Class from Texas for the first time since 2007 (42%, 133 Votes)
  • That CU has 67 scholarship players currently on the roster, and, with 17 new recruits, doesn't have as much wiggle room (without attrition) to stay under the 85 scholarship limit as many believe (28%, 89 Votes)
  • That CU doesn't have a quarterback recruit in the Class for the first time since 1997 (15%, 47 Votes)
  • That the Class only has 12 high school seniors, the lowest total for high school seniors in any CU Class since 1987 (15%, 46 Votes)

What is your favorite Mel Tucker Signing Day press conference quote?
  • On recruiting: "We’re going to have to fight for guys, but we’re willing to fight anybody for any player at any time. If you want to get the best players, you’re going to have to fight for them" (47%, 183 Votes)
  • "The cupboards are not bare here. There’s an element of toughness on our roster right now .... We’re going to be violent. I feel we already have that on our team and we’re just going to add to it" (41%, 161 Votes)
  • On freshmen getting playing time: "I told all of these guys to be ready to play as a freshman. That’s your mindset. They’ll get what they earn." (12%, 46 Votes)

What grade would you give the CU Recruiting Class of 2019?
  • A B ... Tucker & Co. did a pretty good job of hanging onto the quality MacIntyre commits, and added some needed depth on the lines (70%, 368 Votes)
  • An A ... Four-star skill position players, along with immediate help along both lines - in only two weeks? Well done, coaches! (15%, 77 Votes)
  • A C ... Mediocrity across the board. I'm hopeful that there will be quality additions between now and the second Signing Day in February (13%, 68 Votes)
  • A D ... CU's "surprise" commit is a defensive lineman that was heading to ... Old Dominion? Color me disappointed (2%, 15 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
