Which was the most important September victory for the Buffs?
  • Nebraska - Lose the home opener to a long-time rival, on national television, in a sea of red? The momentum from that win will be felt for years to come - both in recruiting and in fan support (60%, 267 Votes)
  • Arizona State - Non-conference victories are fun, but if CU wants to be taken seriously in the Pac-12, the Buffs have to start winning Pac-12 games. A great jump start to conference play! (38%, 170 Votes)
  • CSU - There were no certainties when the Buffs played Game One under Mel Tucker. If CU had lost that game, it would have been devastating. Plus, there was no way CU could leave Denver with a loss (2%, 10 Votes)

ESPN GameDay is heading to Lincoln for Ohio State at Nebraska. Thoughts?
  • Absurd. NU almost lost to South Alabama (1-3) and Illinois (which lost to Eastern Michigan). Something wrong with USC at Washington (other than bias)? (40%, 154 Votes)
  • I'm fine with ESPN featuring a blowout loss by the home team. I just wish it was a day game (5:30 p.m., MT, kickoff), so ESPN would have more time to show forlorn Husker fans after the game (39%, 149 Votes)
  • Hate to say it, but if the Cornhuskers are competitive against the Buckeyes, it will only make CU's win over the Corn look better (21%, 82 Votes)

What surprised you most about the Buffs win over the Sun Devils in Tempe?
  • That the Buffs were able to hold it together and pull out a win on the road in conference play. Eight road wins in nine seasons in the Pac-12 - a rare occurrence, indeed! (66%, 310 Votes)
  • The offense. ASU hadn't given up a point through three quarters to any opponent, but the Buffs scored touchdowns on their first two drives, and scored 34 points for the game. An impressive showing! (26%, 121 Votes)
  • The defense. The Buffs were pushed around for much of the game, but stood tall when the game was in the balance - just like they did against Nebraska (8%, 39 Votes)

Colorado 34, No. 24 Arizona State 31. Thoughts?
  • Snapping a 29-game road losing streak to top 25 teams, and doing it in Mel Tucker's first road game? A big win for 2019 ... but an even bigger win for the program going forward (51%, 253 Votes)
  • What a HUGE win for the program, and for Mel Tucker & Co. - this team has heart, and some talent. The Pac-12 has any number of flawed teams - this could be a very exciting year! (30%, 147 Votes)
  • A big win, but let's see how long Laviska Shenault and Mustafa Johnson will be out. It will be hard for the Buffs to win games going forward if they lose their two best players for significant time (19%, 93 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for Colorado at No. 24 Arizona State ...
  • I believe Mel Tucker & Co. will have this team ready to go. If CU had won in overtime last weekend, and ASU had lost in overtime, fans would not be so pessimistic. Buffs post a win in Tempe! (48%, 124 Votes)
  • This will be close, as the Buffs will score (though perhaps not until the second half), but I'm afraid it will be another close loss for the Buffs (34%, 89 Votes)
  • ASU hasn't allowed a point in the first three quarters of its first three games. I'm afraid the Buffs will fall behind ... and it will turn into a rout on the road. ASU wins big ... (18%, 46 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
