Which numbers give you the most optimism about the CU game at Washington State?
  • 115 and 116 ... as in Washington State being 115th in the nation in total defense, and 116th in the nation in passing defense. Steven Montez - it's time for redemption! (54%, 129 Votes)
  • 46 and 80 ... as in the forecast calls for 46 degrees and an 80 percent chance of rain. Bad weather might slow the WSU offense down better than CU's freshmen cornerbacks could on their own (25%, 60 Votes)
  • 3 and 47.6 ... as in the Cougars have lost three straight games, and have given up an average of 47.6 points per game in Pac-12 play (21%, 49 Votes)

CU receives a commitment from four-star WR prospect, Brenden Rice. Thoughts?
  • Love it! A four-star commit who had offers from almost every team in the Pac-12, plus schools like Michigan and Nebraska? It's a great day for the CU program! (70%, 260 Votes)
  • Like it. Getting the son of Hall of Famer Jerry Rice will help CU's national image, and shows recruits have faith in the future under Mel Tucker & Co. (22%, 81 Votes)
  • Not super excited. Yes, it's great to get a four-star prospect, but CU needs some four-star linemen and defensive backs. Stockpiling wide receiver talent isn't going to get CU to a championship (8%, 29 Votes)

Which of the following Monday post-practice quotes from Mel Tucker do you like the best?
  • "It's very straightforward β€” call it out, don't sugarcoat it and then figure out what we have to do to fix them, and then fix them. That was a big part of what we did today in the team meeting" (43%, 95 Votes)
  • "If you're in denial or delusional about a situation or any aspect of the program, then that just delays progress. We want rapid progress. We're hitting this head on" (36%, 79 Votes)
  • "How do you address issues? Some of it's pressure. You apply pressure to get better. It's pain of discipline vs. the pain of disappointment. Which one would you rather have?" (21%, 46 Votes)

Colorado is 3-3 at the midway point of the season. In the second half, the Buffs will go ...
  • 3-3 ... I don't know how. I don't know which games. But I have faith that Tucker & Co. will get the Buffs to a bowl game this year (50%, 153 Votes)
  • 2-4 ... I feel another 5-7 season coming on ... three straight seasons of falling just short of a bowl (28%, 85 Votes)
  • 1-5 ... The Buffs will be favored over UCLA ... and no one else. It's going to be a long second half to the season (19%, 59 Votes)
  • 4-2 ... Only Washington and Utah are out of reach. The Oregon wake up call will bring about another Rise (3%, 9 Votes)

Start Date: October 13, 2019 @ 6:08 pm

How would you grade Mel Tucker & Co. midway through Year One?
  • A B ... I am still very encouraged about the future, but it just may take longer than we thought (55%, 166 Votes)
  • A C ... Injuries are making for a difficult season. I would still like to believe, but doubts are starting to creep in after the past few weeks (23%, 71 Votes)
  • An A ... You have to look past the last few weeks. Mel Tucker is the answer, and will lead the Buffs back to their winning ways (14%, 42 Votes)
  • A D ... CU is 3-3 in Year One under Tucker. The Buffs were 5-1 last year at this time. A 3-9 or 4-8 season can't honestly be called an improvement (8%, 25 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? πŸ™‚
