No. 2 Kansas 72, No. 20 Colorado 58. Thoughts?
  • The Buffs have three more games before facing another ranked team (No. 19 Dayton). Let's hope that can find a way to shoot better than 30% (and not have 17+ turnovers) by then (63%, 160 Votes)
  • Buffs came out flat, and never recovered. Pretty much the same M.O. Tad Boyle teams have always had against better opponents. CU looks like an NIT team to me, not an NCAA tournament team (19%, 49 Votes)
  • Not a great effort, but we weren't expecting a win on the road against No. 2 Kansas, anyway. Buffs are 7-1. It won't work against CU's chances at an NCAA bid, so let's accept it an move on (18%, 46 Votes)

What would count as a "win" for the Buffs against No. 2 Kansas (Saturday, 5:00 p.m., MT, ESPN2)?
  • A win is a win. The Buffs are the No. 20 team in the nation. If they want to be taken seriously nationally, they need to win these sorts of games (63%, 147 Votes)
  • Keep it close. The Buffs have lost 29 straight games in Allen Fieldhouse, and will likely lose this one. Just keep it interesting, and perhaps stay ranked nationally (26%, 61 Votes)
  • Come away without injuries or embarrassment. Another game with 18 or 19 turnovers will be a really bad rout, and the Buffs don't need that on their resume come March (11%, 24 Votes)

No. 5 Utah v. No. 13 Oregon - Friday, 6:00 p.m., MT. Who will be the Pac-12 champion?
  • No. 5 Utah. The Utes are stronger on both sides of the ball, and have a playoff berth to play for - Utes take down the Ducks (61%, 187 Votes)
  • Can't say that I care. I'm more interested in No. 20 CU at No. 2 Kansas on Saturday night (5:00 p.m., MT, ESPN2) (22%, 69 Votes)
  • No. 13 Oregon. The Utes have played exactly one ranked team all season (then No. 17 Arizona State). On the big stage, Justin Herbert will come through. Ducks take down Utes (17%, 52 Votes)

Which recent coaching announcement for you was the most interesting?
  • Washington - Chris Petersen stepping down was a complete surprise. Continuity is good, and Jimmy Lake is a respected coordinator, but it remains to be seen if he can sustain Petersen's success (67%, 229 Votes)
  • USC - Retaining Clay Helton has the Trojan Nation in a rage. CU's chances of picking up win No. 1 over USC next year improved with today's news. (27%, 92 Votes)
  • CSU - Not completely unexpected, but it will be interesting to see who the Rams can hire (with the roster and budget in disarray). CU at CSU to open the 2020 season - just got more intriguing (6%, 23 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
