What do you like best about CU's plans for reopening facilities for voluntary workouts?
  • That CU is even being allowed to move forward ... I thought that either the city, county or state would find a way to keep the Buffs from keeping up with other Pac-12 schools (51%, 92 Votes)
  • A seven-day quarantine for those who arrive from out of state before they can begin any workouts, and physicals for all of the athletes. It sounds like CU has a sound strategy to get athletes back (27%, 49 Votes)
  • That Buffs coaches could soon be returning to their offices instead of working remotely - they need all of the in-person time together as humanly possible (22%, 39 Votes)

Five players at Alabama (and three at Oklahoma State) test positive for coronavirus. Thoughts on how this will affect college football going forward?
  • It won't effect schools that prioritize sports, but I am afraid that it will have a chilling effect on some schools (like CU), which will insist on going slow - to the detriment of their programs (47%, 71 Votes)
  • It will have no effect on slowing things down. There is too much momentum (read: the need to make money) to stop college football (or other sports) from getting back in gear (33%, 50 Votes)
  • It will have the effect of slowing things down. Schools are in such a rush to get players back on campus, that they are actually jeopardizing the season by opening too soon (20%, 29 Votes)

Anything about that the June "pencil depth chart" which surprises you?
  • Nothing surprises me ... other than that we are talking about it. This staff hasn't had one practice with these players ... Hope there are plenty of erasers handy for this "pencil depth chart" (70%, 131 Votes)
  • Odd to see not three, not four, but five linebacker positions. CU looking at going from a 4-3 to basically a 3-5-4. It will be interesting to see how this plays out (22%, 41 Votes)
  • I thought it was interesting that Tyler Lytle was listed as the starter at quarterback - no "or" here. It looks likes its Lytle's job to lose (5%, 10 Votes)
  • I found it strange that K.D. Nixon, who will be the senior leader - and presumed star - of the wide receiver corps, is listed as the No. 1 kick returner and No. 2 punt returner (3%, 5 Votes)

We are three months out from the (scheduled) start to the 2020 season. Do you anticipate being in Folsom Field this fall?
  • Yes, there will be fans in the stands, and I expect to be there (or would there if I lived in the area/could afford tickets) (45%, 96 Votes)
  • Still undecided. We're edging closer to a plan for fans in the stands, but I'm not sure if I would go to a home game, or even if going to a game will be an option this fall (35%, 75 Votes)
  • No. I can't see a scenario where I would want to put myself and/or my family in a crowd of 50,000 ... or even 25,000 (20%, 42 Votes)

CU introduces its "Buffs with a Brand" program to assist athletes with Name, Image and Likeness issues. Thoughts?
  • Like it. I'm glad that CU is trying to stay on top of this issue. The proof, though, is in the pudding. We'll see if the program will help with CU recruiting down the road (37%, 52 Votes)
  • It's fine, but the reality is that CU will never be able to help promote (read: Get as much money for) its players as well as other schools. "E" for effort, but NIL will ultimately hurt CU (32%, 45 Votes)
  • Love it! It's great to see that CU is getting out in front of this issue (nice to have Rick George and Phil DiStefano on the front lines). This will help CU when legislation goes into effect (31%, 44 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
