Power-Five (other rather, Power Three) football gets underway this weekend. Your interest?
  • Low. My Buffs are not playing, so I'm having a hard time getting interested in other football conferences who are playing (43%, 67 Votes)
  • Medium. I'm a football fan, so if there is a decent game (very few this weekend, though), I will be paying attention (34%, 53 Votes)
  • High. I'm excited to get football underway, whether it's the NFL, the Big 12 or the ACC. Glad to see someone playing football (23%, 36 Votes)

A number of Pac-12 teams are losing stars who are opting out of the 2020/21 season. Thoughts?
  • It's good ... as long as CU doesn't lose any of its stars (e.g., Mustafa Johnson/Nate Landman) who the Buffs will need once games recommence (56%, 100 Votes)
  • Not a fan. It's diluting the overall product, and will put an asterisk on any victory the Buffs post this "season" (28%, 50 Votes)
  • Good for the Buffs. If the Ducks (for example) are down three starters who will be high round NFL picks, it will give CU a better chance at victory next spring (16%, 29 Votes)

University of Nebraska President Ted Carter says the Big Ten could still play this fall: "The fight is still on ... we are ready to play". Thoughts?
  • If it means that the Big Ten (and the Pac-12) get started a little earlier (Thanksgiving weekend, with a split season?), then I'm on board ... I just hope that the Pac-12 doesn't get left behind (59%, 112 Votes)
  • Give it up, already! The Big Ten voted 11-3 not to play this fall several weeks ago. What exactly has changed since then which would justify a 180-degree change? (24%, 45 Votes)
  • I can see it happening now. How can the Big Ten explain away the fact that Pitt (ACC) can play, but not Penn State? Football is underway, and schools and conferences are showing that it can be done (17%, 32 Votes)

CU announces an historic sponsorship deal with PointsBet. Thoughts?
  • Excellent news! The first Power Five program to ink a deal with a sports gaming company - and it couldn't come at a better time for CU's athletic department budget (40%, 79 Votes)
  • I liked the part where it was announced that funds would be earmarked for the CU athletic department’s Scripps Leadership and Career Development Program. A win/win situation for CU's student-athletes (35%, 69 Votes)
  • I'm not sure I like the optics. Sure, sports gambling is now gaining legal status in more states (including Colorado), but having a collegiate athletics program promoting it? Not sure I like the idea (25%, 52 Votes)

CU has 13 former players on NFL rosters to start the 2020 season. Thoughts?
  • It's nice to see that all three players taken in the 2020 draft, including seventh rounder Arlington Hambright, made their respective rosters (42%, 66 Votes)
  • It is what it is, and with the new rules, there are several Buffs who have made practice squads and injured reserve lists, who still could see the field this fall (33%, 52 Votes)
  • Sad to see the numbers continuing to dwindle. There were 16 former Buffs on NFL rosters at the end of the season. Sorry to see the CU legacy of producing NFL talent continuing to decline (25%, 38 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
