Half of the coaches in the Pac-12 South will enter the (eventual) 2020 season on the hot seat. Thoughts?
  • Doesn't really matter to the national perception of CU. The other teams in the Pac-12 could all be falling apart, and the preseason magazines would still pick the Buffs to finish last in the division (66%, 120 Votes)
  • Just off-season hype. Bohn is not going to fire Helton in his first year on the job as AD, and Kelly is safe. That being said, Sumlin might not make it to 2021 if the Wildcats don't improve (18%, 32 Votes)
  • Good news for Dorrell and the Buffs. Helton (USC), Kelly (UCLA) and Sumlin (Arizona) having problems creates opportunities for the Buffs to move up (16%, 29 Votes)

CU receives a commitment from 6'8" forward Jabari Walker. Thoughts?
  • Love it. The Buffs have locked down the front-court reinforcement they sought after the graduation of Lucas Siewert and the (likely) Tyler Bey departure for the NBA draft (51%, 108 Votes)
  • I can't say that I know enough about Walker (or the basketball team) to form an opinion, but I do like that he was rated as a four-star prospect (44%, 92 Votes)
  • Not a huge fan. Despite playing in Pac-12 country (Arizona), Walker had only one other Pac-12 offer (Cal), which isn't all that impressive (5%, 10 Votes)

CU loses one of its two remaining recruits from the Recruiting Class of 2021, offensive lineman Braylen Nelson. Thoughts?
  • Much ado about nothing. The de-commits all said it was about not getting the chance to meet the new staff. They may re-commit ... or be replaced by better recruits (69%, 179 Votes)
  • I wouldn't mind de-commits - if there were some commits to replace them. I trust this staff will get it together when they can meet with recruits, but, for now, I'm a little nervous (22%, 56 Votes)
  • Not a good look. CU had only four recruits (including one from the Class of 2022) when Tucker left, and now is down to one. Getting commitments from walk-ons is NOT an adequate subsitute (9%, 23 Votes)

Start Date: April 7, 2020 @ 6:11 pm

CU has picked up three walk-on tight ends in three days. Thoughts?
  • Interesting to see the coaching staff focusing on tight ends. I wonder if this means an actual shift in offensive philosophy. Will CU actually utilize tight ends next season? Dare to dream (42%, 82 Votes)
  • I don't mind getting preferred walk-ons, but three - three? - tight ends. Picking up three defensive backs would make more sense (30%, 58 Votes)
  • Glad to see the Dorrell coaching staff is ramping up recruiting. With few scholarships to offer to the Recruiting Class of 2021, getting quality preferred walk-ons is a helpful alternative (28%, 56 Votes)

Which of the Iowa State Athletic Director's analogies do you believe collegiate athletics is facing?
  • A really hard winter. The Farmer's Almanac is telling us to be prepared for a long winter, as spring is still a long ways off (46%, 79 Votes)
  • An Ice Age. If schools are facing a loss of over half of their annual revenue (read: no football season), it will have long lasting effects on collegiate athletics operate going forward (32%, 54 Votes)
  • A winter blizzard. We just need to hunker down for a short period, and then move on (22%, 37 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
