Big Ten votes to return to the field, effective October 24th. Thoughts?
  • Good for the Big Ten. Larry Scott & Pac-12 Presidents - the ball is in your court. Do you want to figure this out? Or are you content being the laughing stock of the sports world? (54%, 88 Votes)
  • We'll see. October 24th is still a ways off. I'm still not convinced (see: games already postponed) that there will be a full season for anyone this fall (26%, 43 Votes)
  • It's been tough to be a CU fan the past 15 years, but never more so than now. I feel for CU's athletes, who have no voice in their future (20%, 32 Votes)

If the Big Ten implements an Oct. 17th-Dec. 19th schedule to get in on the playoff. And the Pac-12?
  • I'm not sold that the Big Ten will adopt the schedule. Having it mapped out is one thing, convincing 11 Big Ten Presidents to change their minds is another. Stay tuned ... (43%, 47 Votes)
  • The Pac-12 can't/won't be able to get up and running on that schedule, and will miss out on the College Football Playoff (28%, 31 Votes)
  • The Pac-12 will understand that having a "Power Four" is suicidal for national relevance, and will find its way to a fall schedule (29%, 31 Votes)

Reports: Pac-12 to have testing which is "better than the NFL", and is talking about a mid-November return. Thoughts?
  • We'll see. I think it actually depends on the Big Ten. If the Big Ten reverses course, then the Pac-12 will have no choice but to follow suit. The negative optics of not playing would be too great (53%, 108 Votes)
  • Good news. I hope that with the improved testing, California and Oregon will allow their teams to practice, and we can get a schedule formulated (35%, 70 Votes)
  • Not news. I can't see the west coast allowing their teams to play (even though the professional teams were given waivers). The Pac-12 will have to wait until January ... and may not get a 2020 season (12%, 24 Votes)

Big XII goes 0-3 against the Sun Belt Conference, with Texas Tech barely holding off FCS Houston Baptist, 35-33. Thoughts?
  • At least they are playing. It just goes to show that the Big Ten and Pac-12 missed the boat. It's possible to play football safely ... and CU should be playing! (50%, 115 Votes)
  • Love it ... Nice to see former Big XII rivals taking it on the chin. Kansas schools go 0-2 v. Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina. Classic! (35%, 80 Votes)
  • Actually, I saw it as a reminder that, as much as we would like to think the Buffs have improved, that this is still a team with new coaches and a new QB ... CU might have lost to a MWC team (15%, 35 Votes)

Report: Big Ten to vote Sunday on returning to play (as early as mid- to late-October). Thoughts?
  • This can't be happening. The Big Ten will cave, California and Oregon won't let the Pac-12 play, and the conference will slide (further) into national obscurity (42%, 79 Votes)
  • I can see it happening. There has been too much blacklash to Big Ten's decision not to play. With the other three conferences playing, the pressure will be too great to say no again (39%, 72 Votes)
  • I doubt it will happen. The conference voted 11-3 not to play, and it would be a bad look to back down now. There is pressure to play, for sure, but the coaches don't get to vote, the Presidents do. (19%, 35 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
