Antonio Alfano reveals that the medical condition preventing him from playing is epilepsy. Thoughts?
  • Hope it all works out well for him and the Buffs. Glad the academic issues are being dealt with, and that there is a future for Alfano playing for the black-and-gold - hang in there, young man! (58%, 163 Votes)
  • Sorry to hear about his medical condition. Glad that he has one of the best medical facilities in the country to help him through it. (29%, 81 Votes)
  • Honestly, my first thought was that this was typical for CU. It's another Darrell Scott/Marcus Houston/Craig Ochs/Lynn Katoa nightmare. Fingers crossed ... but I'm not very hopeful (13%, 38 Votes)

CU announces "The "ONE" Campaign to help offset a shortfall of funds in the athletic department. Thoughts?
  • It's a good idea. I am not traveling/buying tickets/paying for concessions or parking this fall, so I should be able to contribute something towards the campaign (50%, 47 Votes)
  • It's fine, but I doubt that I will be a participant, even though I usually go to games in the fall. It's been hard all over, including my household, so I don't see myself donating to the campaign (31%, 29 Votes)
  • I don't see myself participating. I am not a ticket buyer/donor, and am not interesting in participating in funding the athletic department. Cuts will have to be made - that should come first (19%, 18 Votes)

Which of Jon Wilner's sobering comments to you rings the most true?
  • Until there’s proof that Dorrell can consistently recruit playmakers and fortify the lines of scrimmage, we’re skeptical of CU breaking free of its second-tier status (48%, 108 Votes)
  • Combine Dorrell’s late arrival with the pandemic and the flawed roster, and two victories would provide reason for optimism. If he gets to 3-4, it’s Coach of the Year time. (36%, 81 Votes)
  • With the quarterback position as with everything about CU football over the shortened season, uncertainty is high and reasons for optimism are few (14%, 32 Votes)
  • They need to win games 20-17, but the defense doesn’t look capable of containment on a weekly basis. Expect Colorado to play from behind more often than not (2%, 6 Votes)

CU rated as the nation's No. 73 team by Sagarin ratings (compared to No. 109 by CBS Sports). Thoughts?
  • Actually, I can live with this ranking. Until CU starts beating other Pac-12 teams on the field of play, there will be no respect in national rankings (54%, 120 Votes)
  • I'm done with national rankings. The Buffs will be able to prove themselves on the field, so I'm not interested in anyone's ratings or rankings (or the Buffs being a 6.5-point underdog to UCLA) (39%, 86 Votes)
  • Better, but still too low. Any ranking which puts 5-7 CU below 4-8 Arizona, UCLA and Stanford is looking at the last ten years, not what is in front of them this fall (7%, 16 Votes)

Which of the following Karl Dorrell quotes from Tuesday's practice do you like the best?
  • "(Players) understand, particularly in some of the close battles, that every rep counts. They don’t want to make a mistake ... there’s a level of urgency" (48%, 95 Votes)
  • "I think our quarterbacks overall, all three of them did some really good things ... They performed well in the plays that were given to them. I was really pleased with that" (32%, 63 Votes)
  • “We’re really fortunate to have a guy like (OLB) Carson Wells. He’s a little bigger, he’s stronger and he runs a little bit better, so all those are things that we’re really excited about" (20%, 41 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
