Karl Dorrell: “In drills we have to slow down the pace so we’re getting quality reps instead of quantity". Thoughts on this quote?
- Nothing to see here. As Dorrell noted, almost every team in the country has depth issues in the spring. Let's not make more of this than need be (40%, 75 Votes)
- Trying to see this as a positive. CU may well have to dip into the Transfer Portal to supplement the roster over the summer. Time to weed out the players the Buffs won't be able to use this fall (34%, 64 Votes)
- Certainly a red flag. It's not enough that CU has had some of its most talented players leave, but now the spring practices are compromised. It seems CU's chances of 2022 success are dimming (26%, 47 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from running back Alex Fontenot do you find to be the most encouraging?
- “If it was just us three, we could get it done as an offense. That’s the confidence I have in our room. So it’s really no worries that the numbers are down because the talent is still there" (56%, 84 Votes)
- "All that matters is that I’m here; I’ve got to get the work done. Nobody is going to help me but myself, but I can’t think about (the others who left)" (38%, 56 Votes)
- "I haven’t been out here. I’ve got to prove myself all over again in a way. I’ve got to show that this injury hasn’t affected me. I feel that’s what I’ve done; just keep going" (6%, 9 Votes)

Which of these former Buffs who found homes in Group of Five programs do you find to be the most surprising?
- Punter Josh Watts (N/A) - The No. 6 punter in nation has yet to find a new home ... is that even possible? I can't believe there isn't a school who couldn't use Watts' services in 2022 (57%, 108 Votes)
- Running back Ashaad Clayton (Tulane) - The former four-star running back has yet to live up to his potential. Sorry to see him go (26%, 49 Votes)
- Wide receiver La'Vontae Shenault (Alabama State) - Another former four-star prospect, he never lived up to his promise - or the results of his brother (15%, 28 Votes)
- Defensive lineman Lloyd Murray (Sam Houston) - I thought he would amount to more at CU ... and the Buffs could always use more help on the defensive line (2%, 5 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from head coach Karl Dorrell after the first practice gives you the most optimism?
- None of the above. It's all coach-speak. What else would you expect from a head coach after the first spring practice? (63%, 150 Votes)
- On quarterback Brendon Lewis: “I saw a completely different player (from 2021). His management skills; all that experience that he gained over the course of the season last year has really paid off" (24%, 57 Votes)
- “I felt that this team really decided to dig in and really just invest in each other and it shows in the progress that they made in practice today by just how competitive they are against each other" (10%, 25 Votes)
- "The operation (on offense) looked good. It wasn’t perfect, but for the first time doing it and playing against our defense, it was really, really positive" (3%, 7 Votes)
- "I felt defensively we have some new pieces out there and they’re doing some really, really good things. I saw real good competitive work" (0%, 1 Votes)

Rate your level of concern about the CU special teams heading into the 2022 season
- Low. Cade Becker made 14-of-20 field goals (14-of-17 after a shaky start) as a freshman, and Ashton Logan is a highly rated punter. It's the one unit on the team I'm NOT worried about (43%, 79 Votes)
- Medium. CU has only two scholarship specialists, and the two leading returners from last year (Rice and Stanley) have moved on. If the two underclassmen work out, great, but that's still a big "if" (42%, 77 Votes)
- High. Josh Watts was the No. 6 punter in the nation last year, and is being replaced by a true freshman. Oh, and if either Cade Becker or Ashton Logan get hurt ... CU has no real backup plan (15%, 26 Votes)

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.
SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.
The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!
‘SkoBuffs!! Drub the Nubs.
Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.
Did Coach Hagan just let the cat out of the bag regarding Colorado’s starting QB?
Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
