Coach Prime's buyouts start at $12 million (if he leaves before 12/31/25), then down to $3 million by 2029. Thoughts?
  • I'm guessing this was a sticking point in the negotiations. Every year with Coach Prime is a bonus, so I'm not going to worry about it. If Coach Prime wants to leave, a big buyout wouldn't keep him (74%, 119 Votes)
  • This works for me. If another school (or the NFL) come calling, CU is in position to recoup some of Coach Prime's salary, and have funds with which to lure the next coach (16%, 26 Votes)
  • Not really a fan. The $12 million in Year One is a mirage (NFL teams can easily wait for 1/1/26 and save $2 million). Other coaches have buyouts three to four times what CU would get (10%, 15 Votes)

CU announces a five-year, $54 million contract extension for Coach Prime. Thoughts?
  • A great day for CU and the Buff Nation. Coach Prime's contract puts him where he belongs, among the highest paid coaches in the nation! The Buffs are back, baby! (52%, 108 Votes)
  • I'm just excited that CU administration has made the commitment to be a nationally prominent program. Not sure where the money is coming from, but that's a conversation for another day (41%, 85 Votes)
  • I'm glad for the news of the extension, but is Coach Prime, after one winning season, worth $10 million? An $8 million deal laden with incentives would have been a smarter move (7%, 13 Votes)

Folsom Field to go back to an artificial surface for the first time since 1998. Thoughts?
  • Don't like this one bit. The game is better on natural grass, and Folsom Field was all the more iconic for having a natural surface. CU has a great staff looking after the turf, so leave it be! (50%, 87 Votes)
  • My takeaway is that Rick George wouldn't be putting in the extra funds for a new surface if he was looking under the cushions for more money for Coach Prime's contract - so this is good news (33%, 57 Votes)
  • Sounds like a good idea. For a program that wants to play home CFP games in December, an artificial surface makes sense. Plus, apparently an artificial surface is better for attracting concerts (17%, 29 Votes)

Without Shilo Sanders and Cam'Rom Silmon-Craig, will the safety position at CU be a strength or a weakness this fall?
  • Still waaay too early to know, but I like the unit's chances. Stoutmire has experience, and the unit is coached by DC Robert Livingston, so they will come around by Fall Camp (73%, 112 Votes)
  • A strength. Sanders and Silmon-Craig were good, but Carter Stoutmire got a great deal of playing time, Savion Riley and RJ Johnson are back, and transfer Tawfiq Byard is a "dawg" (23%, 35 Votes)
  • A weakness. Buff fans won't really appreciate how good Silmon-Craig was as a leader and a player until they see CU's defense without him, and Sanders - when he played - was a big hitter (4%, 7 Votes)

Rate your level of interest in March Madness as the tournament reaches the Sweet Sixteen
  • Low, especially this year. Last season, both the men's and women's teams were in the tournament - and winning games. With no CU teams in the mix, I have definitely seen my interest wane this spring (46%, 71 Votes)
  • Medium. I will watch some of the bigger games, or games involving teams I follow, but, other than watching my bracket get busted early on Day One, I don't pay a great deal of attention (37%, 56 Votes)
  • High. One of my favorite times of the year. There are always upsets and exciting finishes. This is Must See TV for me every spring (17%, 26 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
