New offensive coordinator Jay Johnson promises a "very, very multiple offense". Thoughts?
  • If this means nothing more than "I'm going to surprise CSU with formations and plays they've never seen before", then I'm okay with it. We'll see what Johnson & Co. can produce (47%, 104 Votes)
  • Love it! Drawing up the experiences of everyone on the staff, and utilizing the skill sets of the players on the roster sounds like a good plan (34%, 76 Votes)
  • Not a fan. Other schools (see: Washington State; Stanford) have developed their programs by establishing offensive identities. Being good at a number of offenses might mean being great at none (19%, 42 Votes)

Which Lance Carl quote about the 2019 season did you like the best?
  • "It’s a new day for Colorado football, and I know a lot of Colorado fans have been waiting for this day" (57%, 100 Votes)
  • "Let’s look at the Pac-12 South - no one there should scare us. It’s up for grabs, It’s not like we’re facing Washington, Stanford, and Oregon" (29%, 51 Votes)
  • "There’s no looking back (at the seven-game losing streak) for this staff, other than to see what worked for us, formationally and situationally, so the team can move forward from that" (14%, 23 Votes)

Which quote from offensive lineman Will Sherman gives you the most confidence about his upcoming season?
  • "I talked to Drew and said, 'If we're going to win big games like USC, Washington and Utah, I'm going to need to get better,' and we have been working on that" (46%, 73 Votes)
  • "I just want to win. If coach sees me winning at right tackle, right guard, center, whatever, I'll be there" (39%, 62 Votes)
  • "I've added about 25 pounds (this offseason). I'm just trying to be able to play at this weight, play fast and still be physical" (15%, 24 Votes)

CU and Mike MacIntyre agree to a $7.238 million buyout of MacIntyre's remaining contract. Thoughts?
  • A fair deal for both sides. MacIntyre gets more money up front; CU gets to get Mac off the books in a year. Not a great deal for CU, but not an unusual resolution in today's marketplace (59%, 163 Votes)
  • A bad deal for CU. How is it possible that MacIntyre's contract only allowed for an offset when he took a head coaching job? A brain freeze by the school's attorneys cost the school millions (31%, 85 Votes)
  • A good deal for CU. MacIntyre was entitled to over $10 million on his contract, so CU will save over $3 million on the deal. It's over; let's move on (10%, 28 Votes)

CU's season comes to an end with a 68-55 loss to Texas in the third round of the NIT. Thoughts?
  • I just hope that this young team will take this game and use it as motivation for next season, and earn an NCAA tournament bid next March! (59%, 160 Votes)
  • This game was ugly to watch, but I'm going to give the Buffs a pass, and congratulate them on a 23-win season - third-best in school history! (29%, 78 Votes)
  • No passes allowed. This defeat again showed that Boyle's lack of recruiting, and lack of game preparation, will always keep CU at a mediocre level (12%, 33 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
