One week out from the start of the Pac-12 tournament ... How many bids will the Pac-12 receive in the NCAA tournament?
  • Two. Washington and Arizona State are likely to get in, barring embarrassing one-and-done Pac-12 tourney results for either team (44%, 102 Votes)
  • Three are possible. If a team other than Washington or Arizona State (CU?) wins in Las Vegas, the Pac-12 could have three bids to the Big Dance (24%, 55 Votes)
  • One. Washington will win the tournament, and that will be the conference's only bid (17%, 40 Votes)
  • One. If Washington is upset, only the conference tournament champion will get in (15%, 34 Votes)

What bowl news to you sounds the most exciting?
  • That the Las Vegas Bowl is dumping the Mountain West, picking up a Power Five opponent for the Pac-12. Guaranteed sellouts in Vegas, baby! (42%, 103 Votes)
  • That the Holiday Bowl will be bringing in an ACC opponent, giving the Pac-12 matchups against teams they rarely play (not to mention a de facto home game) (30%, 73 Votes)
  • That the conference is adding a Los Angeles Bowl, giving the conference a new bowl game (and 6-6 conference team - like, perhaps, CU - more assurance that they will receive a bowl bid) (28%, 68 Votes)

San Jose Mercury News has CU men's basketball as "meeting expectations". Would you agree?
  • No. The Buffs have exceeded expectations. With Dallas Walton lost before the year even started, and McKinley Wright playing with an injured shoulder, Tad Boyle is doing more with less this year (36%, 81 Votes)
  • No. The Buffs have not met expectations. In a very down year for the Pac-12, the Buffs have failed to take advantage. This could have been - should have been - a year to finish in the top four (34%, 75 Votes)
  • Yes. The Buffs were picked to finish 7th in the Pac-12 n the preseason poll, and that's probably about where they will finish (30%, 66 Votes)

How would you rate CU's chances at winning its last two home games, with a 10-8 Pac-12 record earning the Buffs a bye at the Pac-12 tournament?
  • Medium. I can see the Buffs beating both of the Los Angeles schools, but it still not being enough to get to the No. 4 seed in Las Vegas (58%, 151 Votes)
  • High. The Buffs beat both UCLA and USC on the road, and should beat them both again. The way the Pac-12 has played out this season, a 10-8 record should be enough to get the Buffs to a No. 4 seeding (28%, 72 Votes)
  • Low. I'm not even sure the Buffs will win both of their last two conference games. Let's see how the week unfolds before worrying about the Pac-12 tournament (14%, 38 Votes)

Buffs take out Utes, 71-63, behind Tyler Bey's double-double. Thoughts?
  • Buffs are 11-2 at home, with two home games remaining. I'm optimistic about the next few weeks (63%, 133 Votes)
  • I'm just glad the Buffs have clinched a winning season. At 17-11, the Buffs have fared as well as can be expected with this lineup (27%, 56 Votes)
  • A hard-to-watch game between two mediocre teams. Glad the Buffs won, but this Buff team is definitely two weeks from having their season come to an end (10%, 21 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
