USC has two players test positive, with five others in quarantine, but team resumes practices. Thoughts?
  • Fingers crossed, but we're still a ways out from Saturday. I'll believe that the game is a go when I see the ABC coverage kick in, and see the Buffs warming up in the Coliseum (61%, 179 Votes)
  • Good news. Sorry for the players involved, but glad that the Trojans are practicing and it's looking good for the game Saturday. Go Buffs! (25%, 74 Votes)
  • Not wishing any ill on any young man, but I can't help but wonder who the players are who are being held out. With the Buffs looking for their first-ever win over USC, I'm up for any advantage (14%, 41 Votes)

CU men's basketball opens its 2020-21 season v. South Dakota (6:00 p.m., MT, ESPN+; KOA radio). Thoughts?
  • Excited! McKinley Wright, Evan Battey & Co. have plenty to prove, and it starts Wednesday night - Let's go, Buffs! (71%, 175 Votes)
  • Wasn't even aware that the Buffs' season was about to get underway (if I'm being honest). I'll pay attention to the basketball team until football season is over (17%, 41 Votes)
  • Not super excited. The Buffs have gone from a tournament team to one which isn't even considered a bubble team by some prognosticators. Plenty of negative presumptions to overcome (12%, 30 Votes)

Which quote from the Buff interviews do you like the best?
  • HC Karl Dorrell: "It was bonus time (to get the week off). We got to get healthy, and get some of our younger guys more preparation time" (51%, 126 Votes)
  • LB Nate Landman: "We got back to playing strong coverage and I think our run defense right now is one of the best in the Pac-12, if not the best" (46%, 114 Votes)
  • S Isaiah Lewis on getting a chance to play: "(I'm) continuing to follow details was what I stuck to and I think it worked out for the best" (3%, 9 Votes)

Which news item from Sunday to you was the most interesting?
  • That the CU game against USC was set for 1:30 p.m., MT, and will be nationally broadcast by ABC. The Buffs have an opportunity for a big time win on a large national stage ... fingers crossed (80%, 247 Votes)
  • That USC was installed as an 11-point favorite. Yes, the Trojans are 3-0, but they could well be 1-2. I guess we'll have to see if the Buffs can prove that the Trojans are overrated (13%, 40 Votes)
  • That the Apple Cup between Washington and Washington State has already been called off. With new non-conference criteria in place, is Washington v. BYU a possibility? (7%, 23 Votes)

Which of the following Pac-12 results to you was the most interesting?
  • Oregon holds on to beat UCLA. Not sure if it means that CU beat a pretty good UCLA team (which also routed Cal), or that Oregon is not a playoff worthy team (despite being 3-0) (68%, 165 Votes)
  • USC holds off Utah. Was it Utah having to play a backup quarterback that made the Trojan defense look so good, or is USC rounding into form? (14%, 33 Votes)
  • Washington routs Arizona. Perhaps the Huskies are actually the best team in the Pac-12 ... or Arizona showed its true colors in Game Two (after almost beating USC in Game One) (14%, 33 Votes)
  • Oregon State rallying to defeat Cal. The Beavers are feisty, but it is a surprise that Cal - which was supposed to challenge for the Pac-12 North - is now 0-2 (4%, 11 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
