My grade for the CU Class of 2014
  • B ... Several very good players, but some reaches as well (38%, 136 Votes)
  • C ... Not much different than what we've seen the past few years (34%, 121 Votes)
  • Incomplete - Ask me after we know about Ballage (13%, 47 Votes)
  • D ... Can't be at or near the bottom of the Pac-12 and expect a higher grade (9%, 31 Votes)
  • A ... Needs filled; quality players and individuals throughout the Class (6%, 25 Votes)

My take on CU signing three-star prospect Jay MacIntyre ...
  • It's good news. Jay is a good athlete, a welcome addition at either WR or DB (66%, 213 Votes)
  • It's irrelevant. The grade for this Class hinges on signing Ballage (24%, 76 Votes)
  • It's bad news. Wasn't there anyone at Dal Ward who could have warned Coach Mac of the perils of signing your son? (10%, 34 Votes)

Which team will Kalen Ballage sign with on Wednesday?
  • Colorado - Kalen decides to stay home to help rebuild the CU program (54%, 165 Votes)
  • UCLA - great coaching staff, top ten team (27%, 83 Votes)
  • Arizona State - his first choice, will stick with Sun Devils in the end (13%, 40 Votes)
  • Washington - Chris Petersen has been making a late surge in picking up quality recruits (6%, 17 Votes)

Which of the four newest Buffs will have the greatest impact?
  • WR Lee Walker - Will help reduce the impact of the loss of P-Rich (48%, 105 Votes)
  • DB Ahkello Witherspoon - Will add speed and size to the secondary (25%, 55 Votes)
  • OL John Lisella - Added 30 pounds without losing a year of eligibility! (21%, 45 Votes)
  • LS Wyatt Tucker Smith - Never underestimate the value of a quality long-snapper! (6%, 14 Votes)

Start Date: February 4, 2014 @ 11:01 am

My thoughts on losing OL prospect Elijah Rodriguez to Texas ...
  • What's the problem? Rodriguez, a two-star commit, was replaced by Sully Wiefels, a three-star commit! (38%, 83 Votes)
  • Terrible news. The CU offensive line is a weak link, and Rodriguez would certainly have helped (34%, 74 Votes)
  • I'm okay with it ... take it as a compliment that a CU commit attracted the attention of Texas, LSU and Florida State (28%, 62 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
