CU Signee Quentin Gibson named MaxPreps National Player of the Year. Thoughts?
  • Great news! The 2024 wide receiver room was amazing, but I don't see much drop off in 2025. I can't wait to see what Mr. Gibson will bring to the black-and-gold (43%, 89 Votes)
  • I couldn't help but notice that Gibson is considered only a three-star prospect by both Rivals and 247 Sports. Think the National Player of the Year might be higher rated if he had signed elsewhere? (29%, 60 Votes)
  • Nice to see that CU is (once again) loading up on talent in the skill positions, but if you ask me, I'd rather be seeing some decorated offensive and defensive lineman coming to Boulder (28%, 57 Votes)

CU picks up commitments from offensive lineman Zarian McGill and linebacker Martavius French. Thoughts?
  • I do like that both of these players are coming in as starters at their former schools. Rather than go after potential, CU is going after proven performance. This could pay off well this fall (53%, 112 Votes)
  • We're now 15 members into the Transfer Portal Class, and, to be honest, it's not all that impressive. After having the No. 1 Transfer Class the last two seasons, CU this year is ranked 14th (25%, 53 Votes)
  • Like it! Two commitments from players in positions of need (center and inside linebacker). Glad to have these two large players coming to Boulder! (22%, 45 Votes)

Who was your favorite player on the CU's 2024 defense (not named Travis Hunter)?
  • DB Cam'ron Silmon-Craig. He led the team in tackles, and had the most tackles for loss by a DB in eight years. Oh, and that 95-yard TD fumble return against UCF was fun (64%, 130 Votes)
  • LB Nikhai Hill-Green. He wasn't a starter to open the season, but soon became a mainstay of the defense. Very sorry to see Hill-Green leave - by far the worst loss to the Transfer Portal (26%, 53 Votes)
  • DL BJ Green II. A first-team All Big-12 performer, Green helped turn the CU defensive line from a weakness to a strength. The fact that Green declared for the NFL Draft is all you need to know (10%, 20 Votes)

Linebacker Kylan Salter, brother of quarterback transfer Kaidon Salter, transfers in from TCU. Thoughts?
  • Well, CU needs linebackers, and Salter has the right frame for a linebacker. He has three years to play, so hopefully he will develop into at least a role player this fall (68%, 111 Votes)
  • Nice. A three-star pickup from a Big 12 rival. Also a plus that having both brothers in Boulder helps allay any concerns that brother Kaidon might transfer out after spring practices (21%, 35 Votes)
  • Not super impressed. He played in seven games this past season, with all of one tackle. If Kylan didn't have his brother on the roster, would he even be recruited by CU? (11%, 17 Votes)

Start Date: January 3, 2025 @ 5:15 pm

Offensive lineman Kahlil Benson becomes the 19th Buff to enter the Transfer Portal. Thoughts?
  • I'm just glad that the official visit period is about to resume, so that we can start to focus on what the 2025 roster will look like, and not have to worry about what 2024 players were lost (48%, 101 Votes)
  • Yes, Benson started the first four games of the season, but wasn't able to get back on to the field for any significant time thereafter. Sorry to see him go, but not a major loss (40%, 84 Votes)
  • This one hurts. Benson was a Game One starter this fall, and, if he had returned, would have been a strong candidate to start in 2025. A significant loss (12%, 26 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
